Just went out and measured, from the bottom of my grill, right under the emblem, I'm looking at 8 inches at the outside tube, absolute furthest point.

Do all of you that have posted on this particular thread think that this is the best body style of the first generations? I am just curious.

While I do love these, I have always had a soft spot for the last of the first gens:)

I have a sweet spot for the double cabs but no manual kills it for me.

I much prefer the 'body style' of the 1st gens, which did not change from 95-04. Only minor changes occurred over those 10 years (most notably the grill/bumper, and introduction of the 4-door).

I do prefer the 98-00 overall, mostly because of the manual hubs and I do not like the 01-04 grill.

Personally, I love the grill of the 1998-2000s. This is why I love this series.

Also, I've noticed that my gas gauge is really slow to rise when I fill up. Any thoughts?

It is an anti-slosh feature. The gas gauge is designed to respond slowly to changes in fuel level. The needle would bounce constantly if you had less than a half tank on a rough road.

Newer cars have smarter gauges that pick up the fuel level instantly at startup and then the anti-slosh kicks in.

And they said you couldn't off-road in a 2WD...

Did a couple modifications to the truck to when it was stock:
    - Refinished Delta Crossover Toolbox
    - New Kenwood Touchscreen Head
    - Under-Seat Compact Subwoofer and added Rockford-Fosgate Speakers
    - Refinished Grille Guard & K.C. Lights
    - Smittybilt Nerf Bars
    - Removed stock grille, added Billet grille & 1990 4Runner Chrome Emblem
    - Midland CB Radio and PA System

Also waiting to put in some retrofits I had built.

    File_000 (10).jpg File_002 (4).jpg

I stripped the power door components and trims off an '04 Limited and I'm going to embark in converting the manual doors to power doors. My truck doesn't have the kick panel connectors so I'm going to fabricate my own wiring harness. Here's some pics:
