Keep in mind, the R155 thats in the truck, is the same family as the R154 that came in the supra. It utilizes the same case, so as long as the internals are healthy and strong, I see no reason it wouldn't hold up!

The trans will get a complete rebuild, and I'll cryo treat it for now.

The way im setup now, with the 33s, im just a touch underpowered to where I can't use 5th anymore, so I think with the extra power I will have a zippy little truck with the stock trans and the 4.11 gears out back. I know I will break something, but thats the point. I want to discover what works, and what will shatter into a bazillion little pieces. In the name of science of course...and maybe choo choo sounds...

Really curious what I'd need to do to swap in a r155 trans whenever I grenade mine. Heard your bell housing is the same bolt pattern as mine.

Tell you what a 9" rear end will be in your future.

Yup, it's identical! The 2tr uses the 3rz block!

I just did a search and think it's the same gear sensor. Pretty cool. Probably not too hard to pull a r155 from a junk yard.

Subbed. Can't wait to see it done. You're the ONLY person doing this it seems like. I will have many questions for you in the near future when my 17 gets a few dozen thousand on er.

As far as I know, I will be the first fully built 2tr in the states. There are a few guys on here who are putting on turbo kits with a lot of success though, so I'm not the first to turbo one at least lol

Why have I not watched this before?!?!?!

I always said that it just takes the right person to get the ball rolling. Looks like it is you.

I am quite excited to hear that LCE wants to help out and get their hands on it as well. Minus the VVT, you have a lot of aftermarket already at your disposal, since you found out how related those two engines are.

Now that some time has passed since the origination of this thread, are you still planning on staying with the hyper eutectic pistons, or going forged?

its already exciting! Ive been thinking about jumping on an oz kit but ran into complications with shipping. it be awesome if lce or whoever can come out with exhaust manifold solution for us. otherwise id have to go to my original plan of custom route.
like i said excited to see how this unravels!

edit: oh, and my pants get smaller when i see the pics of engine tear down

Go custom. Once LCE sells this stuff it's gonna be ridiculously overpriced like most of their crap. Look at the supercharger for the 2trfe... For that much dough you can swap in a V6

I hear that. I have an extra manifold I cut up, and a plan in my head, just never seem to get around to it. I'd pay reasonably for a decently plug and play manifold if one would ever pop up in the market before I figure it out myself. Hate to tell ya, but I'd rather have a forced 4 then a V6 anyday

The bolt on kits are fully capable of supporting much higher HP, but nobody wants to do any real work and swap internals to get to those numbers.

This is a thread for visionaries and people who get excited about choo choo sounds!

EFR 7670 for now. Depending on what LC has for me, I may need to up it a little bit as well.

I acquired a Tundra 76mm throttle body too :bananadance:
