same here man. Dry storage and camping. As long as you laid down the weather stripping correctly. I had to fix mine at one corner near the cab. Other than that, no water. Amazing how strong this canvas is. I touch the inside of the fabric and it doesn't even feel damp. Been raining heavy at least 8 hours now.

It's so much easier than a tent. My boy and I slept twice back there last year over night in the mountains

One of my co-workers, whose truck I have never seen before (he has a city car) drove the truck to work the other day. Old Silverado with a Softopper on it. I saw it and checked it out, and picked his brain about it. He is a pretty sensible guy, and he was pretty pleased with it, and said he'd buy another one in a heartbeat. One thing I didn't like - which fortunately the Tacoma series don't seem to have a problem with - was that it didn't sit flush with the roof of the truck. The topper was like 3" below the roof line, which kind of made the whole thing look janky.

Playing with it in person, it is definitely well made and substantial feeling. I think it'll be the hot ticket for camping in the back with 0 set up.

Got mine today, posted it in the CAD 3'd gen thread and the WDYDTY taco today? thread.
The cost was $1048 CAD for the canopy + the boot bag, also included in that is $40 US to ship it to Blaine Washington. A bonded carrier (http://www.seawings.ca/) then brought it from Blaine to the Victoria airport for $31. There was also CAD PST/GST totaling $118 charged on the $1000 the canopy alone. all in the total came to just under $1200. If I was to get it shipped directly to my house in Victoria BC the shipping would have been $130+ US.

    As for pictures:!

2 boxes taped together, one with metal parts, one with canvas and boot bag.
Seam Sealer it comes with. Very high-Quality stuff, I have been using it on my tents for years. I really didn't expect to get this brand!
    [IMG] [IMG]
Rails and Tubes on, super easy to install solo and while sick. all the parts snap together with spring loaded pins.
    Front Tensioner Connection.
Rear Tensioner connection + tailflap Bar connection.
The rear flap bar on the left. passenger rail on the right. this was my least favorite part of the system. the bar is hard to get on both sides at once and you rally have to force it. plus the snap clip on the passenger side (seen here) seemed to be a little short. However, I'm sure it will loosen and stretch with time. The rear flap should work without the bar and with the velcro at the bottom of it only, and this may be the route I end up going with.
    [IMG] [IMG]
Install took about 2 hours but if I didn't have to stop and blow my nose every 10 minutes and hack up a lung every 5 it would have taken about an hour. if anyone has any questions about it feel free to ask!

I gotta tell you, as someone who imports/exports stuff fairly regularly, the amount of bs Canadians have to go through to access U.S. goods is ridiculous.

Awesome soft topper - congrats on getting it!

very soon! those are the exact tires I want to buy! what size are you running and do you have a lift?

it is a pain, but there's very few Canadian manufacturers for parts leaving us with little choice. :frusty:

Here it is with the Boot cover installed.

Also anyone figure out a way to make it so that you don't have to force the support bars as much? this is how mine naturally sits.

Any leads on where the best current deals on 3rd gen Softoppers are? I'm picking one up before a trip out west so I don't have to wrap all my shit in trash bags.

The only place I could find was direct from softopper. I believe they moved all sales back in house.

I couldn't find any retailers selling below MSRP. Keep an eye on the used market also. Both here on the forum as well as Craigslist. I use a third party site that searches all of Craigslist at one time so I don't have to keep changing counties & searching again. My favorite is searchtempest.com. I ended up snagging a Besttop still sealed in the box with the tinted windows shipped to my door for $400. Maybe call Softop & see what their lead time would be, then you know how much time you have to look for a deal before your trip.

I have no lift and I'm running 265-75-16's. I really like them I plan on leveling the front soon and it should look really good then.
