im looking for a 3 inch lift kit for my 2013 Tacoma 4x4 TRD sport. Seems like everything I find states it doesn't work on the TRD suspension. I don't use 4 wheel unless it's necessary, I don't go out looking to off-road. Trying not to spend a fortune. Thanks for any help

    Say what.

Unless you're looking at 5 lug lift kits, I am perplexed.

    Anyone seen my wallet?
How much are you looking to spend? Answers could range from 100 dollar spacers to 2000 dollar 2.5 resis.

Welcome to TW! 3" lift kits and inexpensive do not go together. At 3" you will need front UCAs, cheap ones alone are $400 on top of whatever kit you run. Without them you will not be able to align your truck and chew through your tires. It would help to define your budget and what you are looking to get out of your kit. Ride can suffer dramatically with cheap kits.

I've seen a bunch and when I keep reading a lot of them say they won't work with TRD or 5 lug. Hoping someone has put something in under $500 that works well.

Thanks crash. Kind of what I was thinking. It's always good to hear if someone has used some things and if they worked out well or not.

3" under $500 isn't going to be possible to do correctly. You'll spend $400 on UCAs and then $100 on spacers and blocks and have a truck that drives so awful you won't want to drive it.

Why do you want a 3" lift? 2" running 265/75/R16s (1" larger than stock) can be done for a fraction of the price and look better than a stock truck without running into any of the expensive complications of a larger lift.

Here are pics of my truck with a 2" lift front, 1.5 rear next to a stock truck:

Light speed upper control arms and bilstien 5100s with a rear AAL is the least expensive option that's worth considering IMO.

Really though, a proper set of coilovers (Fox/icon/king seem to be the popular choices here) and a new rear leaf pack (OME Dakar) is a better option (along with the new upper control arms).

A lot of stuff, just ask and I'd be happy to tell you. Or we could wheeling/camping
If you only want to spend $500 on a 3" lift kit my suggestion is save your money until you can do it right. Otherwise your gonna really mess your ride/truck up and end up spending the money anyway

For under five hundred get 2 inch spacers up front and a 1 inch block fo the rear, add an alignment. That will be about 250 if you do the install yourself.

Save the other 250 for a proper lift, budget about 1200-1700 for a full suspension lift.

$500 was a jumping in point. I appreciate the advice. When I started looking on line there is such a variation in prices. I like hearing about the set ups people have used. Tried and proven goes a long way. The truck has new tires on it so I thought I would go lift first then tires and wheels when they need replacing.
    Thank you
