I dont know what forum to put this in so ill leave this here. When i bought my Tacoma there was some small chips in the hood probably from the previous owner following to close to a Pa plow truck.....in any case. I need to know the best matching touch up paint preferably in pen form.

    Hood touch ups are tough.
I use spraypaint mixed by local auto paint shop. Hardly ever use the pen. When I do its just the vip/ auto zone duplicolor pens.

Lucky for you the trucks not too old..
Hopefully sun damage paint..will match the new paint.

Yeah i know what you mean...Im hoping because the hood isnt completely torn up (just maybe 10 very small chips) itll be no problem, just dont want it to rust. I was planning on plasti dippin the hood anyways so i guess it really doesnt matter

Keep in mind if you do plastidip.
    Paint the bare metal first.
The plastidip can bubble in cold and hot weather on bare metal.

I've had good results with these double-ended paint pens. Pump-action chisel tip marker. Paint on one end; clearcoat on the other end: https://www.amazon.com/ExpressPaint-2WayPen-Toyota-Automotive-Touch-up/dp/B00M9XUK38/

I got my touch up pen from my dealer, since Duplicolor didn't offer one in 3L5, Radiant Red.

You can repair chips easy. Clean the area with paint degreaser and touch up the chip only not the area around it and let dry and then use your Mcquire 1500 to 3000 grit sanding block rubbing gently over the touch up paint until flat and then rub out and polish, if done correctly it well not show on most colors. Solid colors are the easiest to fix.

I have a few chips that have extremely small amounts of rust. What are my options? Lol.

Tape around the area and clean rust , use some rust mort, or navy gel to kill the rust. Let dry hard and touch up chip with metal primer let dry sand a little and paint.

Auto paint store, NAPA have some. They change the rust into a hard primer.

Pretty neat. It creates a chemical reaction and the rust is then changed to primer? Neat.

Where can you find your paint code to get an exact match?

I used a touch up paint pen purchased at a Toyota dealership on my previous Tacoma's bumper (Spruce Mica). About half the size of a dime (really small). I could see it, but most didn't notice it was there.

personally depoending on the part i just paint with the duplicolor in a can if it is small enough. however i have never ventured into the bigger pieces like a hood. it is harder to match perfectly without a little bit of a offcolor.
