Doah! What do you mean you disagree!!

Nah, I here you. Off roading is like ice cream. most people like it, but like different flavors.

Wharton is like a PBJ sandwich. Normally I don't want it. If I have steak, I aint going for a PBJ. But if theres no food around and I haven't eaten in a day, I'll eat a PBJ.

I like to match up the unpaved road map with topo maps you can get from the geographic society. That gives you a good idea of what we have. We took a few days to check out the areas south east of Pittsburgh when we were out in Ohiopyle area in June. Lots of places just to get dirty. Nothing really technical but the map helped out a good deal in finding them.

There's one for NC as well using ArcGIS. I prefer areas like Chatahoochee, Nantahala, Pisgah, and Uhwarrie national forests. They are great in the early spring or in the fall after a wet summer. So many water crossings and muck to play in. I headed out to that area for a few weeks this fall after I picked up the truck this summer. wharton is like a mini-golf version of those. But it's still nice to get out of the concrete jungle. It's 45 minutes, but it takes me 45 minutes to drive 20 blocks sometimes so...

Think I'm going to head out to Bald Eagle and Sproul State forests in march once hunting season is over and traffic through the area slows down a bit. Same kind of off roading that I like to do. I like being alone for days at a time so it works for me and I don't have to have a trail buddy with me on trails like these. There are some nice trails out there. Real desolate area.I like going out with buds too, but sometimes it's great to just go through some simple crud for a few days by myself. I load the unpaved road map on a tablet and just head out there for a few days.

The lancaster roads are short, simple but close enough to inlaw's house so I like to visit them when I'm out with FIL.

If you like rock crawling, come on out to West philly. Roads are so torn up out here, you might as well be rock crawling on certain streets.

    We are like-minded then.
I'm a big fan of that area - spent many long weekends quad riding up at Whiskey Springs. Renovo is a heck of a place. :D
Hoping to get a group together to do some Pa overlanding (kinda) trip this spring.
I know Philly well, I live in Bucks but I run Contractor Services for The Home Depot for the Philadelphia Market so I cruise around Philly daily. ;)
I don't need a difficult trail or crazy obstacle to have a good time with the truck. It's fun though!

There are some nice off-roading place near Kenneth square but it was private land. Was lucky to go with Land Rover outing one year and it was fun going through water and wet hills. Would be fun to do it in tocoma

My wife's uncle just got back from Renovo area. The air dam on his canyon "All terrain" or whatever model it is was filled up like a snow plow with mud and had mud clear up to the roof. Looked like he had some fun. But he did bitch about the air dam. And it looked like he was using the factory nerf bar as pontoons. But damn, those things do drive nice on the road.
