Twas my experience. I'd say if you are going to shackle flip for increased travel you would have to put something like Sumo Springs under there to maintain your payload/ride height.

 

Now pull them mud flaps or the trail will do it for you.

Mine was an older model that has 3 holes to mount t everything to so you can adjust your shackle angle

May also lift a bit depending on new mount location/shackle length over stock. My SOS did just because it lowered the oem shackle mount and position. It also changed the way the shackle levers on the spring with added weight. The more weight the closer the shackle gets to being horizontal. On stock the more weight added the more the shackle moves away from being vertical. The same way your arm can support more weight when you hold it over your head vs straight out to your side.

But yes, a shackle flip decreases payload for what Everett kinda said because it changes the fulcrum points. Also keep in mind that it doesn't necessarily add travel, just alters where the travel occurs. It adds DOWN TRAVEL and deducts bump travel. More down travel means your tires should stay on the ground more often but less up travel means your stability is decreases and your tipping point is increased. Unless you decide not to limit up travel and allow your springs to go into negative arch. Then you will wear them out much faster because they weren't designed to bend the opposite way and worse you run the risk of snapping a leaf. People go sua thinking it gives more travel but that's completely false for all the same reasons. It just changes the static center point for the travel to begin.

If I carried any weight in my bed, I would not run a shake flip without compensating somehow for the extra weight. You def don't need it to ride trails at LBL.
