Wanted to share some of the adventure on the Mojave Road I did with 3 friends December 3-6th. We had great weather and saw almost no one the whole trip once past the first mile or two. It had rained a few days prior to our trip which helped cut down on the soft sand & dirt. It also brought some vegetation to life providing us with great scenery and color.

Being our first time on the Road we took our time and explored along the way. Camp was set up on the early side to enjoy the beautiful sunsets and hike around. Same went for the late departures in the morning. My two favorite areas were the the winding, sandy trails through the Joshua Tree forest (although my buddy in his Ram 2500 + camper hated it cause it was so tight) and the desolate landscape around the cinder cones/lave tubes.

We skipped Soda Lake because of time and recent rain, choosing the bypass on the highway to Afton Canyon where we explored and spent our last night. I can't wait to do the trip again and explore the areas we missed.

Some friends and I are planning on running the Mojave Road sometime next year. I can't wait. Thanks for the pics. Do you have more?

Sure, I'll post some more when I'm at the computer.
Grab the Mojave Road guide. It's worth the money. Good history in addition to the maps and trail guide.

Started on the east side of the trail off Needles Hwy. Awesome to wake up and start with the Colorado River, mountains and sun rising in the east.
