And make sure the tie downs are not directly under the latch.

What do you mean, "give it a go"? Put the crowbar right there and rip it open? :-] It's firmly latched and locked but all of the OEM tonneaus on the lot have this loose quality to them when closed and locked which concerns me...

Where did you find this for $1300? Do you think you could mount a mountain bike without taking the front wheel off?

I had the same problem until @odinsbro15 told me the solution. You need to push down directly over the latches on each side, the latch clicks two times do it with your tail gate opened. Also as @nm4553 mentioned make sure your bed tie down cleats are not in the way

Help me understand, I'm at the dealer in front of a bunch of brand new, unsold 2017 Tacos with OEM Tonneau covers. I'm with the salesman who is unlocking the truck so we can confirm that the tonneaus are correctly latched with no tie downs in the way. Even with it correctly latched, there is an incredible amount of play in the tonneau covers - to the point where you can peek inside and use a few fingers to grab the handle! Pushing on the area above the latch does not help as it *is latched*. The latch itself has a ton of play in it. What am I not figuring out here? Those of you that have this tonneau - are you not seeing this .5 inch of play?

@odinsbro15 help me out maybe I'm not being clear.

So you need to stand on the side of your truck by your bedside decals, put both hands over the cover, directly over the latch and push down it should click the second time

OK thanks! Knowing about the 'double click' helps. I'll go back and try this again...

Let me know how it goes, just make sure nothing is hitting the bed cleats, and do it with your tailgate open

I'm pretty sure that this one will fit my 2017 Tacoma: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00A3U29F6/

I've installed one before so I'll probably do it myself. Can't wait to get mine in though!

Well Corey you are not letting me down with all your mods :)
I like them as well, but the price is more than I was willing to part with for them. Not doing off roading or hauling so I figured I could do without.

on the top of the cover where the latches would be are "bumps". when the cover is down and still has some play firmly push down on those bump on either side with two hands (or 1 stong one) and you will hear another click. i close my cover pretty hard and it usually latches first time every time but when it doesnt that what you need to do. all covers are like this if you dont close them hard enough
