    Hello All!

I have a camping trip planned with the family + in laws next month. We plan on driving 10E to Blythe, spend the night, and then head down to Picacho SRA. It's on the border of We normally take out at Walter's Camp and canoe down the Colorado River and take out at Fisher's Landing.

Unfortunately, we wont be canoeing down the river this trip, as I have a 13 month old so we are just going to drive to Picacho SRA and spend a couple nights.

I was just on the Picacho SRA website and saw that theres a 4x4 trail that leads into Picacho and was wondering if anyone has done that trail? The website says it's 4x4 only and I would be by myself seeing as I don't think my FIL will want to offroad with his huge F350. I'm cautious, and know I should never go alone, I'm just wondering if anyone has ever done that trail and what I should expect or should I not do it at all?

I might set up camp and head over with the daughter instead.

    Found this...
Doesn't look like a quick trail and don't want a hungry 13th month old in the back seat throwing a fit and causing me to rush and either hurt them, the truck, or myself. I might set up camp and run the trail out of Picacho for an hour or two.

Congrats on the new baby. :)

I have Picacho bookmarked myself, as a future place to visit.

I have not adventured on the Colorado river in over two decades. I would like to return there sometime in the future.

I think it's a good call to setup camp, then go explore the trail. :)

I've gone on the trail that comes out of Picacho and goes up to 4S beach, it's just a standard hi-clearance trail can be done in a 2wd truck. I've never gone further than that because BLM or some other org has trail closure signs on all of the off shooting trails. There is tons of beautiful desert out there to explore, you'll have to check out valley of the names while you are in the area.
