Can you help me trade in my PRO? I mean I paid less for my 6MT PRO than the sticker on the ZR2

Half of the stuff is options a lot of people don't even want, then it compares a diesel motor to a gas power wise.

Dumbest comparison I have ever seen.

Yeah but have you ever really seen the build quality from Chevy....especially after like 5 years? Look at any Chevy on the road after about 5 years and compare it to a similar Toyota. Which held up better.

We have a 2013 Chevy Avalanche Black Diamond Edition with 40k miles. It squeaks and rattles and the dash has already cracked in half. Never again.

I know this thread will bring in all walks of life here on TW, but let's try and view this as objectively as possible.

Toyota got lazy with the 3rd Gen and I'm hopeful that some competition will force them reevaluate the trajectory of the Taco moving forward. These halo models are a great platform for trickle down development, and this ZR2 has many of the features that I hear people complain about on a daily basis.

Front Locker would be nice.... don't see how it says "no" for standard auto trans for the Tacoma.

    It won't.

Toyota marches to the beat of its own drum. As long as sale holds (and it is), no amount of competition will change Toyota's conservative mind. The Colorado/Canyon was out before the 3rd gen came out, and Toyota did what it wanted on its own.

If enough people would put their $$ where their mouth is and buy new upcoming Rangers/Ridgeline/Colorado/Frontier and TOYOTA STARTED LOSING SALES, THEN they will look at what the competition is doing.

You don't have to look at Tacoma only. Look how behind the Corolla is, look at Sequoia/Tundra not being updated. Toyota is happy with its sales, adding shifts, and very happy with the bottom line.

Till the bottom line is hurt, competition won't effect them. There is a reason they don't bring diesel to USA, don't sell $45K Land Cruiser to compete with the Patrol/Armada etc....

Toyota charges extra for auto, therefore its not a "standard" feature

Lots of options listed but doesn't say "STANDARD" ... probably mostly add ons which would jack up the price.

Front locking diff I am definitely interested, other stuff is garbage

    Looks definitely goes to PRO

I don't want a "new" diesel especially with the EPA restrictions.
    I don't want Chevrolet shocks.
    I don't want/need a front locker.
    I don't want/need a bed tire carrier.
I would prefer a manual to an A/T.
I don't trust their tubular rocker protection, prefer aftermarket.
    I don't want/need 4-wheel disc brakes.
    I don't want/need an EZ liftgate.
    I don't want/need wifi
    I don't want/need OnStar

Looks to me Chevrolet built the ultimate mall crawler.

Really dumb to compare powertrain differences of a turbo diesel versus a standard gasoline engine. Only cool thing about it really is the front locker available from factory, but really now...how many people out there actually use the rear locking diff let alone a front one?

Gosh guys, after seeing this why would anyone EVER buy a Toyota. Guess I'll put my 08 taco and 86 4Runner up for sale. Pieces of shit. Google, what is the quickest route to the nearest Chevy dealer?
