Exactly. I have a reasonably pricey set that I used to pack around, but they were so cumbersome that they ended up hanging in the garage for the last 5 or 6 years. It's only been recently that I've wrangled them into a gym bag and thrown them in the truck.

Seems like a lot of money to spend on wires for a "just in case" scenario. The pair from O'Reillys have done me good enough to get me to where I can buy a new battery....

0AWG is only 1/4 of the conductor that 2/0 is.

    1/0 is still only 1/2 of the condutor that 2/0 is. 4/0 > 2/0 > 1/0 > 0 > 1 > 2 > 4AWG.... While wire size increases as the AWG (gauge) number decreases, the opposite it true with the "X"/0 sizes.

All this talk about what wire is better and high quality... When we are still talking about a F'n 12v battery.... No sense in spending more on cables than the battery is worth...

I just want to ensure that I always have what I need for an emergency situation secured in my truck at all times...Battery cables have a lot more uses than just jump starting a battery...like welding for example. As long as you know how to do it properly, and you isolate your batteries....you can form some good beads and weld whatever you need in order to get you back on the road....

Get some 1/8" 6011 rods, which can weld at current peaks of around 140-150 amps. Get two sets of cheap short battery cables to daisy chain three 12V car batteries, and you're in business...

K, first off, i never said that.

Secondly I was being sarcastic, of course all batteries eventually die.

The point i was making is that hes willing to spend $200 on cables when he probably has the toyota $100 battery under the hood.

I've not even bothered to carry jumper cables since purchasing one of these back in 2015.

Yea. I have a different one but all of them are awesome. I don't carry cables anymore. Sure, I could weld with a really nice set of jumper cables but that would be really rare situation where I'd even consider it.

With a lithium ion battery it doesn't lose much charge even after a few months. Mine set for 6 months and still had enough juice to jump my truck a few times (maybe more but I decided to charge it anyway).
