My little '010 2wd really amazed me these past couple days; we got nearly 2' of snow here and I hauled my snowblower to 7 different houses during and after the storm. Even with the shitty Firestone LE stock tires, this is by far the best snow truck of the 4 Toyota pickups I've owned. The new electronic traction and stability control kept plenty busy, lights flashed and beepers beeped whenever I got sideways, but whenever I started to bog down in deep snow there was a quiet electronic whirring sound as the LSD shifted power between the back wheels, the back end wagged a bit until it found some grip and then it just pulled - simply amazing how well that system works. At the same time I was pleasantly surprised to learn that even with all traction systems engaged I can still have alot of fun with it - the electronics don't take any of the fun out of snow driving but if things get a bit hairy just lift your right foot and the truck regains its composure immediatly. Very impressive truck, very effective and well-balanced traction system - I do NOT regret my decision to go with 2wd over the 4wd's the dealer wanted to sell me.

hi tig1 calling- my 2009 tacoma works pretty good in the snow, but i'm not sure about the winter tires.the x-ice lat. do not grip as good as they say(those consumer mags.),the tires seem to ride the snow more than plow through it and they slide on icey roads a little farther than i like.the dunlopes that came with my truck last winter pulled far better and the truck fish tailed once.i am seriously thing of switching back.:(

We got about 20" of snow in the last blast. My 01 4x4 was unbelievable. Better even than my old Montero. I had no issues even with an empty bed. I drove my daughter around, back streets and interstate with ease (my frickin' wipers had issues, tho). Even better, the streets are now covered with icy, frozen slush, and, other than a really rough ride, still no issues sticking to the road (even on the really slick areas)

the 03 performed like a champ. about 20inches of and it made me near $100. i went out squirrel hunting and on the way back a car had for some stupid reason stopped on the ramp from the highway. well being the good person i am and the fact that i had 2 chains and 2 straps in my truck, stopped and pulled her straight and she was able to get goin again with my manual pusing power. once she got off the ramp she came back and gave me 5 bucks so i got the great idea to just stay there and help the people that were backed up because of her. i pulled 3 different cars/trucks that had slid down into the snow and pushed about 20 to where they were able to go on their own. all in all i made just about $100 in 4 hours

I cruised around our neighborhood area (29.5" official snow report) with few problems. I didn't use 4wd unless it was last resort, which wasn't much. The back of the truck was filled with snow, thanks to almost 30" of snowfall. A few times the rear would hop a bit and I would quit moving. I reversed a few feet and tried again. The truck was unstoppable in 4wd. I love it. My only worry is the salt. I moved up here from the south so I don't know how long it will take for the road salt to eat my frame.

no problem in snow. 4Hi is good enough. But I used 4Lo when it dumped at Mammoth last season. Still haven't had to use my chains yet. But it's stored below the rear seat just in case. Coma 4WD is good and the Rugged Trails on 12 inches or less of snow are not as bad as people make it seem.
