    Hey guys ,
Looks like the eastcoast is going to get some snow tomorrrow . Just wondering how these 4cyl 4x4 5sp trucks handle in the snow .
I love the snow usually blasting around on the 4x4 quads but hate the salt and brime they lay out in my area .
This 2017 taco was bough as my work truck so will not feel as bad if I would be salting up my 4runner .
Dumm ass weather people went from reporting a dusting of the white stuff to woke up this morning and calling for a 10"s so that means a foot ... LOL
Just was just wondering how these trucks do in the snow , my previous tacoma was a 2013 trd offroad and was a great truck went threw everything .
Does the electronic traction control do anything ... I know its not a posi unit .

I am running studded Firestone winter force tires on OEM steelies and haven't had any issues this winter. It's really amazing what it will go through.

Snow/ice driving is about grip, not the engine size.

And just because 4wd can get you moving, don't forget it won't do squat to stop.

And the other tough part is dodging the other fools who forget they can't stop as well.

So, yes, you'll likely get moving just fine, but proceed with caution.

I had a 2015 2.7L 5 speed tacoma. It did great in the snow. Ice a different story.

I air down tires to 25psi, put it in 4hi. With the stickshift, it an blast to drive around a snowy field. It was like a husky playing in the snow.

I haven't tried my 3rd gen dcsb 4x4 in the snow yet to compare but it is noticably a heavier truck.

Yeah my buddy owned a car wash as you said they would recycle that water but was like a salt water bath after a good storm of washing cars .
I prefer the self wash to blast off the salt then I just follow up with a garden wand I have at my shop .
The storm is here the truck did a good job , I especially enjoyed the 5 speed manual .

We got a decent amount in Pittsburgh today. The roads weren't too bad but so far I love how my truck goes in the snow. It's a light truck, so sometimes it spins from a stop (in 2wd) but then after that it is very predictable. In 4WD it is a beast. Very happy with it. I'm running Hankook Dynapro ATs, empty bed.

Two sets of wheels and tires FTW!

My '96 has 31x10.5 DuraTrac's on factory alloy's for winter fun and 33x10.5 KM2's on steelies for summer fun.

My '03 plow rig also has DuraTrac's in 265/75R16. I have bought 6 sets of these tires over the last like 8 years or so and love them in the winter since they are such a soft/flexible compound. Have had on almost all my Land Rovers and Toyota's, especially when we lived in the Midwest.

I've had similar times with my 1980 -4cyl.-4spd in the snow, I once found a Chevy 4x4 down in the ditch with a Ford 4x4 up on the road . I stopped & talked to the two guys & asked if I could help? Told me to take my "ToY" &
get the F... down the road so I put it in low range -2nd gear, drove down into the ditch around the Chevy & back onto the road. Beeped my horn & saw in the mirror the old finger salute from both as I drove away. Great FUN !
