can you tell me how you pulled the wire. I don't want to cut it. I tried to pop up the plastic lock and the hairpin trick but still no luck. thanks.

I used a flat screwdriver to lightly poke around in there til it finally pulled free. Patience is key with this for sure. I was messing with it for about 15 minutes and was getting pissed, so I took a break, then went back and it popped right out. The screwdriver was the size you would use on eye glasses. I think you can get the actual tool in a set for around $20 or so which might make it easier. Can't say for sure as I've never used them. Good luck and have patience, sorry I can't give you direct instruction to get it to pop free.

Similar question - I got an AOB switch and a relay to perform this function, but am lost on how to wire it up for a simple open/close circuit. Do I even need a relay for this? Any input is greatly appreciated!

Can you electrical guru's take a look at this schematic that I drew up to add an AOB switch for the yellow wire mod? I think it will work, but I'm not sure if I need dedicated power to the relay or if the 3 amp power to the switch through the green wire to relay is sufficient to activate the coil....

its a nice added feature but doesnt this make it complicated since you can turn the trac on and off using the regular trac/alsd/vsc switch after the ywm?

It might be, but I was thinking I would operate more often than not with 4low operating normally and wanted the signal intact with no flashing light.

You can see how the TRAC works in my video. You'll see the TRAC braking my front passenger tire when it lifts off of the ground. Around the 16 sec mark.

I'm not sure I understand the question. The diffs on your trd sport don't have lockers so they are essentially open. The mod allows traction controll to work in 4lo. It's really not that complicated.

trac will be on. The computer won't know it's in 4lo so it doesn't turn it off

I haven't read the entire thread, however, it doesn't seem that the original mod has been changed. Cutting the 25 wire or removing it whatever, does not fully support the 4LO TRACK feature. Also, this idea has a flaw, the flashing 4x4 indicates an issue, regardless if it's engaged or not.

I did this mod and I can tell you that there are no flashing lights that come on. And the TRACK OFF can still be selected in 4LO with the push of VSC switch.

Yours would be the only 2nd gen Tacoma in existence that the VCS button does anything in L4! Please post photos!

I took some photos and a demonstration video on how it all works. I can select TRACK OFF and VSC OFF in 4LO and 4HI. Auto LSD still remains in 2HI

From the factory the truck has Trac capabilities in 2wd and 4wd- high. When in 4wd-low the factory settings turn off the Trac function.
The yellow wire mod tricks the truck into thinking it is not in 4-Lo in effect keeping the Trac function in operation while in 4-low.

I have done this mod on my 2015 TRD Sport and it functions as expected from reading and following the directions laid out in this forum.

The only issue with that mod is that the 4LO flashes and since it does not think it's not in 4LO, there go your transmission shifts that go with 4LO.

I agree that the 4-Lo light flashes and that is slightly annoying. As far as shift patterns, I haven't experienced anything that would suggest issues in shift pattern. For example I used 4-Lo while descending a steep 1/4 mile long snow covered driveway. The truck remained in low gear and idled down the hill in complete control. Same result on the drive back out of the driveway, the truck remained at idle untill the driveway was to steep for forward progress. I lightly pressed the accelerator and continued slowly up the hill. As I increased speed the truck shifted in what seemed like a normal manner.
I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just saying I haven't experienced any shifting irregularities.
