The Mojave Road, Central

This thread is a continuation of my thread on the western section of the Mojave Road.

This portion of the Mojave Road covers the areas between Kelbaker and Ivanpah roads and is almost minivan friendly, especially Cedar Canyon Road. Any 2WD truck would make it unless it is muddy. The Mojave Road mailbox is in the western portion of this section and you can add your name to the logbook, unless of course someone left the book out in the rain. There are camping spots by the Beale Mountains (fire-pits are the only thing offered here) along with the Mud Hills and Hole-in-the-Wall campgrounds south of Cedar Canyon Road.

Camping on the cold ground in a two-man tent sucks. If I was smart I would’ve stopped at the Beale Mountains for the night instead of pushing on in the dark. I went from west to east and the cairns (piles of rock along the trail) will always be on the left.

Nice vids of the ride. I bet it was a bit chilly in that tent. I was there two months ago and it was already pretty cold in the eveniings!

are you using a go pro for all the footage? what kinda memory chip are you running with all the film youre getting

 

I was using the

Rexing V1 with a pair of 32 GB Micro SD cards for these videos. I've since upgraded to the

REXING S500 Pro 1080P Wide Angle Super Night View Mode Dash Cam for Cars with 32GB MicroSD Card

Rexing S500 and am using a pair of 64GB cards now. I'm not a big fan of GoPros and prefer to use a camera inside of the cab. I wouldn't count on the suction cup to hold on for hours at a time, don't have to worry about battery life, and the lens will always be clean. I take all of the videos at 720P resolution which gives good quality but doesn't take up too much memory.

 

Looks fun, I would like to do that trail one day.
