    *EDIT* Parts break down:

    Tank:

I used an eBay copy of the RCI 17 Gal tank that I linked to below. It has three male 8 AN fittings on the top of the tank. Feed, vent, return. I didn't use the return so it's capped. The vent has a rollover check valve incorporated into it.

    Fuel Pump:
I used the AEM pump that I linked to below. It has a check valve incorporated into it as well. I'm hoping this will keep me from getting EVAP CELs. So for so good.

    Fuel Gauge:
Mine is just a $30 Jegs Gauge. Obviously, most people are still going to have their 4x4 selector switch in the dash, but if you want to put the Gauge where I did, here's what you need. A 2 1/16 gauge and a bezel to make it fit the opening correctly.

    Hose and Fittings:
Since the fuel pump puts out 43 PSI, I used 3/8 fuel inj rubber hose. I didn't use any AN line. The AN fittings on the tank and pump are adapted right to 3/8 barbs. I called Jegs and they helped me order all the correct fittings.

    Fuel Filler T:
Put together with a 3/4 x 1/2 copper T with a 1/4 reducer soldered to it. I'm going to change this to barbed fittings though.

    Wiring:
I used a Jegs fuel pump wiring harness and ran 10 AWG back to the fuel pump, and 12 and 14 AWG for the rest.

    Solenoid Valve:
    Not using one.

We're driving to Moab in the fall from NJ for Rock Thereapy. My truck is 5200 lbs without my recovery gear. I'll be towing my M1101 HMMWV trailer loaded with camping gear and my RTT. I'm NOT stopping every two hours for fuel.

Any input or advice on the following setup?

My plan thus far is to mount one of these
    http://www.jegs.com/i/RCI/821/2172AD/10002/-1

    Under one of these
    https://www.toyotapartsdeal.com/oem/toyota~strg~box~bed~tacom~pt767-35050.html

I plan to put a 45* filler neck on the tank like this
    http://www.fillernecksupply.com/aer...4_5Fj7TFKLyT4A42XkpP7NM92cFwn-k8AQaAm8F8P8HAQ

I want to use an electric solenoid valve that I can open from the cab. This one flows 4.6 GPM. My plan is to run a high volume fuel pump into this valve, so 4.6 GPM should be way more than enough.
    https://www.joyfay.com/catalog/prod...2HDuaID0Zp7Ueje7rnt-YORVjuJ2vzcZ2AaAt0v8P8HAQ

Looking at fuel pumps right now. The fuel pump will also be switched on from the cab. I want to take advantage of the 4.6 GPM flow rate of the solenoid valve and run a high flow fuel pump. Something like this.

Are you plumbing in to stock lines or do you plan to tee in to the stock filler neck? I'm a little lost

I see cheaper places to buy that tank, but I like where this is headed.

    Hey Tim,

So sorry for not responding. I opened up the PM on a very busy day at work, and completely forgot to come back to it and respond.

to answer your questions, Yes, I am still happy with it. there are some tweaks here and there that'll i'll make one of these days, but they are low on the list of priorities. I do have it on my list to pull the whole system out and check it for cleanliness. I'm sure it's fine, but I just want to make sure that a marine tank is holding up well in an off road environment.

my favorite part of it (other than the obvious range improvement), is that it takes up zero usable space. just like your are doing, mine is hidden in what is normally dead space for leaves and trash to collect under the tool box. I like the 45 you are using, but I'd recommend looking for an adaptor that can go on it, to extend the fill port to a more reachable area. I hated crawling into the bed to fuel up, so I ran a fill hose to the side of the truck, mounted to my bed rack.

as for the fuel pumps, i was having trouble finding gasoline transfer pumps for a more reasonable price, so i went with dual high pressure pumps. obviously there is no high pressure need, which is great, because the pumps will never be under a heavy load, which should extend their life. with duals, the combined GPH made for an acceptable transfer time, as well as having a failsafe if one pump failed.

my total transfer time has been averaging about 25 minutes for the 15 gallon tank, so with your 100gph pump and a 17 gallon cell, you'll be just under half the time mine takes. only thing you'll have to be careful about is not overfilling your factory tank. with a full 17 gallons, and a transfer time of just a hair over 10 minutes, you'll want to wait until your empty light comes on before flipping the switch. with 15 gallons and a 25 minute fill time, i wait until the fuel needle gets just under 3/4 of a tank.

    hope this helps.

That does help. Thank you. I'm also considering extending the fill. I need to get all the parts and see what I want to do with it.

I also like the idea of dual pumps for a redundancy. I'm actually considering using two pumps with less GPH each for this reason.

You're right about being carful of over filling the factory tank too. My plan is to put a fuel gauge in the truck for the aux tank so I can monitor both gauges during the transfer.

I do have one question. Do you know What size hose the factory fill is?

unfortunately I don't recall, and it's not super easy to get to for a measurement.

you can probably get a good guess from these photos though by scaling off a bolt head or something else on the tailgate.

the bottom one was what I first made, but ended up being a little too big. the filler neck is stretchy, but not that quite enough to fit that one. the top one was what ended up working.

second photo is everything clamped together.

It's also nice to have a coil of hose attached to a bypass valve, that you can use to fill other vehicles, generators, etc. On my last set-up I used a length of 3/8 fuel hose and kept a 3/8 stainless bolt in the end to keep it clean.

that's actually one of the "tweaks" I was talking about. there are some nice gasoline specific quick disconnects, similar to an air chuck. keep a cap over then end for debris, and you're good to go.
