my buddies who own the sound shop took months to plan out and see what subs would fit plus if they had enough airspace in the box for the subs. it's really hard for these first gen double cabs to get a lot of bass, but my two pioneers and 1000w jl amp bump real good, however i go through subs once every 2-3 months because i push more watts than my subs can handle lol. little fyi my 4 8's sub box is for sale too :bananadance:

Yea I almost jumped on it! But I already had a 10" sub, easier to just buy a second one. However setup got stolen while it was at the shop  but they are replacing everything. I'll likely sell off the single 10" sub box once they replace it and then go custom. P.S. good luck with the sale, I'm sure it will find a good home.

but for some reason they discontinued it and replace it with this one... Not a fan of the new design and it looks like it will stick out more? Also all the specs seem worse.

here's a pic of my setup at the moment. with two 10's you HAVE to cut out that cross bar on the back of the cab. i've never tried the old thin pioneers , but you are going to have to cut some foam out for the cone to travel further

Goals! Looks like I now have another project... How does it compare to the 8s?
Never thought abound removing the cross bar but I can see how it would allow for a larger box. I'm sure the extra breathing room helps.

Now both back seat passengers can get a massage.

the 4 8's are great and all but i listen to a lot of edm and deep house music. i wanted something that made the bass travel more. the 8's shook the truck and you could feel the floor shake a little on the outside but i wasn't really feeling the full throw. i have my amp at 1/3 bass and my bass knob below half and the 10's do the job great! don't sound proof the rear cab just ask for more carpet so you can place it behind your box.

Hey man did you make this box yourself? I have a 2004 DC that I'm trying to find a solution for. I would to be able to run at least a 10". I've seen the 8" boxes from a few companies, but I'd rather the 10" since we know they'll fit. I see the company that makes a single 10", in the first page of the thread, but I'm interested in your dual 10" setup.

the trade off for wanting dual subs is that you'll need to remove that crossbar so the box can extend higher. it shouldn't be a problem unless you use car seats because that's where they anchor on to

Just picked up a second sub! Will likely do a dual 10" sub box as well once I get the truck back. Thanks for inspiration!

Would you have the dimensions on your box?

best bet would be to cut all the stuff out behind the seat like the cross member for the baby seat anchor and the jack mounts and build a box that would take up the entire space then get some shallow mounts

since it’s a tundra you’ll probs be able to fit a sub thicker than a tacoma and i suggest 2 JL 10” subs

we have 3 tacos and one has a custom fiberglass box molded exactly to fit behind the rear seats with 2 JL shallowmount 10s and the seat rear seats were pushed foward like an inch(best sound system), i have 2 pioneer shallow mount 10s and they’re alright , my parents have a box that fits 2 8” pioneers and all they had to cut out was just the jack and took mount behind the seat and it’s the perfect amount of bass for them
