Hello there Tacoma World. I drove an '03 Prerunner for 6 years and thought it was time to upgrade to this:

    IMG_4758.jpg

'17 TRD Off Road. (Allllllllmost ordered the gray TRD Pro, but wisely opted not to.)

Ordered wheel spacers for it a week before I actually bought it. The second day I owned it I plastidipped the whole front grill and the emblems, removed the V6 emblem, and installed the Spidertraxx 1.25" spacers. AFE CAI and MBRP exhaust on the way. Yeah, yeah, I know, I know, pro CAI and anti CAI - I'm pro CAI even if only for the sound. Vroom vroom and all that...

Anyway, I'm going to make a post in the for sale thread - I ordered both Spidertraxx (1.25") and Bora (1") spacers. I have a problem with being patient so I opted to install the first ones to arrive. Spidertraxx won by almost two weeks. The Boras will be in the for sale thread.

Glad to be here among such a varied group of Tacoma enthusiasts. Cheers!

Well, I prefer to think of impatience as just being really efficient with time ;]

Beautiful truck, exact color I'm looking at. New member myself, and am also bummed at the restrictions for selling stuff. Trading in the 2013 double cab gunmetal and looking at a new taco in that lovely pearl white. One thing I'm seriously bummed about is the sound system options. The JBL is OK, but no room for what I've got in the 2013. I have the JL Audio stealthbox with the 10" W3 and a small JL amp, and boy does that compliment the system perfectly. I took everything out in anticipation of the trade and will be taking pics of that and a top of the line Leer cap that'll also sadly will be coming up for sale. I'm going to surf here to see members thoughts on the new 3.6 versus the trusty 4.0. One thing that I've heard is that the 3.6 is a bit noisier than the 4.0, I'm assuming the new motor has to work a bit harder to get up to speed. Very nice truck my friend, hopefully I'll be joining you and my uncle in the pearl white taco club. The bastard beat me to the punch and bought the exact truck I'd been eyeballing since the 1st press release. Great minds think alike I guess, as I never mentioned anothing to him about buying a new white taco.

    Pearl white taco club :headbang:
Sound systems have never been my thing, but I will say the JBL setup isn't bad! And yeah, the white just does it for me, man.

Honestly, coming from the 3.4L in my '03 prerunner to the 3.5L is a world of difference. The new 3.5 is a little sluggish, but it's also lugging around quite a heavier truck (1st gen 2wd vs 3rd gen 4x4). It took a little getting used to, and high-mid to lower-top end torque at highway speeds (which I cruise at 82 here in Texas) is pretty low - it's often downshifting to 4th gear on longer inclines maintaining 3300-3600 rpm's for longer than I'd like. It's like I can watch the gas gauge move down. Right now I'm averaging 16.2 mpg city/highway mix. But guess what? I don't give a flying f@%k. I love this truck.

We'll see what kind of gains, if any at all, the 3" exhaust and CAI add after I install next week. It's sure as hell gonna sound nice after.

    Sick truck!

Ha. I was in the same boat. I had the truck up on the lift getting a new suspension last week. I thought I'd have the shop put on the 1.25 Spidertrax since they had them in stock. Yet, I ordered some Bora's a week ago. I opted to wait though.

For those of us who don't live off road, those spacers make a truck look so much better. Funny how 1 inch of tire offset can do that...
