Recently I finished my exhaust system and made a couple of videos, after reviewing the footage, I saw on the newest one that there was some black smoke right after I started and revved up the truck. Is this because need a tune? I have jba headers, Flowmaster cats, and now Flowmaster 40 series muffler.

Black smoke usually means unburned fuel (aka - too rich). Could be an injector issue? Does this only occur when the engine is cold?

How many miles since you installed all the exhaust components? Might be possible you are burning off oils from production as the components get hot.

I'm not seeing this "black smoke". If anything I'd say your motor is still cold.

    Truck sounds good.

    Not sure, I'll check.
Thx, it is cold start, and the components are new. In the beginning of the vid, after backing up and revving the truck, you can see some blk smoke.

Could it possibly be that the truck just needs time to adjust?

When you install new exhaust parts you will always get some smoke from coatings and anti seize if you used it

Are you using / burning oil? Black smoke is probably not burning oil but easy to confuse with grey smoke that is associated with oil burning. Have a mechanic put a 4 gas machine into the tail pipe - you might have to clean your mass airflow or replace injectors. Been there and done that.

These truck always run rich so I wouldn’t worry about it. Maybe change your spark plugs if you haven’t done that it awhile or ever for that matter. Also sudden jumps in rpm such as revving or a sudden downshift when you floor it will almost always produce a bit of black smoke as unburnt fuel, especially if the motor and cats are cold

all of what Uv done has changed the ‘ back pressure ‘ in the exhaust system

the ECU is compensating ( back pressure nowadays is an engineered factor especially at idle )

IF ( ??? )U have a stretch o road that Uv prev checked the mpg................& U hv an isea what it used to be

check again.................mpg may have dropped a nominal amount
