I thought about getting one before my current chocolate lab. They're great dogs. Maybe a bit thick sometimes from what I hear.

Enough to make it a lot of fun!
Took this picture of Drake today. Every time we go out front, toward the truck, he thinks it is time to take a ride.

No thicker than some others I've had. But so loyal. Such a great family Protector. He has taken on the task of Family Guardian. Whatever room my wife is in, he'll post up right at the doorway, looking out. Or, at the top of the stair to watch all rooms. he's truly amazing.

I had a Black Labrador named Molly (born December 11, 1994) who lived to be 15 and died literally 3 months after I got my Tacoma. I managed to get a couple pictures of her in the bed of my then-new truck and am currently scouring Facebook looking for them...

However, until I find the pictures of Molly in the back of my truck, here is a picture of me with Molly when she was a puppy to keep my fellow dog lovers entertained. The picture was taken in 1995 at our old house in North Wales, and I would have been 5 or 6 at the time...

This picture was also taken in 1995, but when Molly was a bit older and thus a bit bigger. I've always called it "Chef Molly."

I loved this picture so much that my mom had the original picture framed for me as a birthday present one year.

And this is Molly probably not even 2 weeks before we had to put her to sleep. Her health deteriorated all the way through 2009, but as you can see in this picture she was still up to playing in the snow. Then she turned 15 on December 11, her health rapidly deteriorated (most notably kidney failure and arthritis), and we put her to sleep on December 23.1916792_1307516365233_631759_n.jpg

And this is one of several pictures taken of my last cuddle with Molly on December 22, 2009. We put her to sleep less than 24 hours later. I cried like I never thought a 20-year old guy could cry when the dog I'd had since I was 5 years old literally died in my arms, but one good thing came out of that... Molly went the way all dogs probably wish they could... In a nice warm vet's office with her entire family by her side and her head cradled in the arms of a guy (me) who loved her more than anything...

    17867_1310880249328_6498958_n.jpg

No joke here, the silver 2010 Tacoma regular cab that is so well-known on TW came into my life less than 3 months before Molly left it... The Labrador you see cuddling with me in the above picture is the only thing in this world I would give up my Tacoma (including the stereo and custom rims) for if it meant I could have her back... It's been more than 7 years since Molly went to heaven and my parents are finally making plans to get another dog, but I seriously started tearing up writing this...

All of the feels. Sounds like Molly was your "down on your knees" dog. Where they mean so much to you that their loss literally brings you to your knees. The love of a good dog is an amazing thing but sometimes you're blessed with one that just really claims part of your soul and losing them is a terrible thing. She looks to have had an amazing life.

Another family member's pet... This is my uncle's Staffordshire Terrier, Willy. My uncle got him as a 6-month for $75 from a friend who had something come up and couldn't afford to keep him. This picture was taken in July 2010 when Willy was about 4 years old. Willy is now about 11 years old and almost completely deaf but still alive and enjoying life...
    37723_1521202307248_1045676_n.jpg
In his younger days, Willy was the anti-theft system for this truck. Willy is very friendly, but he is very protective of those he loves and their property. One time my uncle got pulled over by an NC state trooper in the 1991 Toyota because they were convinced he was a drug runner based on the appearance of him AND the truck at time (he had was shirtless with huge tattoos on his back, he had a "Pit Bull-type dog" in the truck with him, and the truck was red with black doors and covered in bondo/primer), and gave consent for the cops to search the truck (he had nothing in the truck), but let's just say Willy would not let the troopers anywhere near the truck... They searched the boxes of car parts in the bed but gave up on getting anywhere near the cab...

Want to establish to the police that nobody goes near your truck without a search warrant? Get a dog like a Willy!

Here's my pups. The males name is Scout, he's a 90lb treeing walker coonhound, he's just about 6 years old. The females name is Lucy, she's a 35lb Black and Tan coonhound, and 2 years old. My wife and I treat them like our kids and they are a very important part of our family.IMG_1497.jpgIMG_1270.jpgIMG_1441.jpgIMG_0667.jpg

Well, had to adopt a second pup for the basset hound to play with. She's a mix, but suspect some German Shepherd and terrier in her. Her mom was on site, and was only about 30 lbs or so. Gonna call her Susie Q.
