Quick question: Have any throwers switched to lightweight or "blizzard" plastic discs for more distance? I've tried them upon recommendation for max distance on golf course based DG courses but find them floppy... Is that a fundamental flaw (OAT off-axis torque)? I tend to throw everything around max weight or 173 or above so...IDK, just fishing for your thoughts on them.

Edit add: I honestly CANNOT throw a Road Runner without it flipping nearly vertical while intending to throw flat with a good snap.

I've got a Westside VIP air King and a blizzard Dominator that I've tried throwing without but they don't give me any more distance honestly... the King was recommended to me years ago when I was learning to forehand (along with a FAF destroyer which is my Nolan Ryan throwing disc) but to use it backhand it's not really "bag-worthy".

I've found that there are some discs I just cannot throw flick. I just get so much torque on it, that it'll flip up. I have to stick with more stable discs when I throw flick, or just not put very much power behind it.

As far as blizzard plastic goes, I can throw it just fine flick. I think it comes down to disc selection again.

I got my girl some lightweight discs. I've crept away from max weight 175-180 and have found best results around 165-168. I still carry the heavy stuff for high winds

I really appreciate when a course is clearly marked. Today we played 9 holes that were not clearly marked

^ around here we have volunteer crews that get together and drink beer, trim stuff and what-not. Normally, about 6-8 guys kinda make a course there own and oversee it's maintenance including signage and trail maintenance.

This park had an upper and lower 18. They built a 9 as well but now it's all unclear. There is an A tier event soon so I'm sure it will be fixed

Absolutely the hardest part of playing a new course or playing when you're out of town and have no idea where to go!

DUCT usually has downloadable course maps...sometimes they help...unless someone got biggy with the pin positions..

This thread shouldn't be this slow at this time of year. Did every DGer on here start whoring around at DGCR?

I just saw this thread and was glad to see Disc Golf as a subject. I haven't played in years and miss it. I have a feeling this is the thing to get me back into the game.
