That is very true. My dad's Navy buddy honestly thought he could make a difference... this was 10 years ago when the economy was failing and companies were going out of their way to hire retired military officers into high-ranking corporate positions to help turn things around...

1976 or 1978 (forget exact year) Datsun 280Z, a literal "barn find" that he towed home, restored, drove for a bit, and sold...

Look at the photo of the inspection stickers... This car was parked in 1991 or 1992 and sat until 2010. My uncle changed the fluids, tuned up the engine, and it started right up. On top of that, the air-conditioner held it's charge of R-12 despite sitting dormant for almost 20 years and was still blowing cold when tested in 2010... This was BEFORE the restoration!

I would of picked up a fresh road kill and took some bailing wire and tied it up under his truck to the frame.

I would like to disable the seatbelt alarm...

I looked in my owner's manual and it said that the seatbelt alarm/chime could be disabled at the dealer and it could be done to any model...

I had it at the dealer for an oil change and requested that the seatbelt alarm be disabled...

I got the truck back and was told that disabling the seatbelt alarm could not be done on "my specific truck."

I am OCD about wearing my seatbelt, but I have tons of "drunk grandpa" stories about why I can't stand the seatbelt alarm...

Right now I just want to focus on getting the damn thing muted!

Has anybody been able to do this?

kinda depends on the year.. but... just reach under the seat and unplug the dang thing, its just a 2 wire circuit that's a "normally closed" circuit, when the weight sensors sense weight with the circuit closed, you get the alarm. Clicking the seatbelt opens the circuit. Unplug the connector under the seat, also opening the circuit. it thinks the seatbelt is always plugged in.

This won't make any "idiot" lights come on?

BTW I have a 2010 regular cab 2WD 2.7L auto... It's a base model no-frills truck to which I've basically added everything I wanted (stereo, backup camera, intermittent wipers, etc).
