Dylan is such a bad influence :p truck is now in a design phase with the help of the guys at Insain fab. I have a year to try a design everything with work staring up. I'm not going to post much of the progress because I constantly modify my ideas. But here's a little teaser. Plus I got Barb's ok to go ahead.

Very cool. So with a single triangulated, you do not need a panhard?

Found my own answers, no pan needed, as well as some of the differences and characteristics:

Rock crawlers use double triangulated because it will keep your axle straight even with a lot of flex but can add body roll. Single triangulated can cause rear steer when the suspension is flexed.

Single triangulated is going to cause "rear steer" when the suspension flexes. if it is a double triangulated setup and it is built properly, your axle will stay perpendicular to the frame no matter how much the suspension is flexed. I built a double triangulated setup on mine and i love it. ultimately it depends on what setup will fit on your rig. Because of the frame and drivetrain setup on some vehicles you cant get a double triangulated setup to fit. FJ40's are a good example. I did alot of fabwork on a 40 for a friend. He had installed a Proffits Cruisers 4link setup which is a single triangulated setup. the lower links are basically paralell with the framerails. When the suspension flexes, the non triangulated links will pull the axle forward as the suspension droops and push the axle back when it stuffs. This causes the rear axle to "steer" or become not perpendicular to the frame. Some people dont mind this but personally i dont like it. Those are the main differences i can think of, not sure what other differences there are. Either setup will work, it just depends on preference and fitment to your vehicle.

Oh I'm still educating myself on everything. You know more about the geometry of links then I do. That chart I posted isn't the numbers I'm going to use. I was getting familiar with the program and seeing how the points move. Learning a lot. Watching vids and reading. I see a vid on how to pervent rear steering from my my setup. Interesting how the little changes of points and lenghts of links can help or hurt you. Also trying to keep a good pinion angle though the whole cycle.

These numbers look pretty good. Just saving the pics here for now. I still need to double check these numbers with my truck on flat level ground with the frame level.

so...why you thinking wishbone vs just going a standard 4 link? The body roll?

It's not a wishbone. Looks like it in the digram. It's two separate links on top.

gotcha. Good man. If your gonna do it may as well go all out.

I think i'll end up doing this too at some point. My biggest problem is the front then..the Solo XLT kit seems like it would be worth it at that point. get the rear to do 20-28'' and the front a good 18''..be solid.

Better to ask what I have not done.
I would go with double triangulated 4 link for the rear because you do not want any ods and ends in setup of the shocks, or your take off into the air to effect how your truck will act when it lands. 90% of the time the rear will be evenly drooped out by the time the landing part comes, but it you huck it at an angle like you did at the mall and one side hits first you can experience flex steer in the rear apon landing and even though it would be very brief its still another thing that has to be taken into in those split seconds.

Do it right and double triangulate that bitch. Just get strong uhmw plastic tube and not pvc for the lowers.
