    Gonna revive this thread.
Even though I have a camper for my Tacoma an aluminum shell/topper would be great for quick trips and to use for work. The fact that it can be removed by one person is a huge bonus. Anyone else have an aluminum shell?

    Nice.
How much weight is the rack rated for or have you put up there? I'm not planning on overloading one if I do find a deal.

sorry but I have no idea what its rated for. I have yet to put anything up there but it seems pretty stout, maybe 200 pounds? I just couldn’t pass up the deal for the cap, it was less then a year old and they retail for around $1000 here. It also reminds me of my dads 87 toyota pickup haha

Mine is a Leer and I believe it's rated for 300 lbs. I'm quite happy with it. It was relatively cheap and half the weight of fiberglass. Something about fiberglass caps on double-cab Tacomas makes them look like stretch-limo 4runners and it bugs me.

That diamond plate pattern is slick! I'm thinking of going this route because I want a truck vs and SUV most of the time an the weight on these is enticing. I like the soft topper ones too, but and leery in the NH winters.

    Hey all,
Got my Lifetime SuperSport installed on Saturday. I wanted to post a few pictures as I know finding an Aluminum cap that I liked was a bit of a process for me. It sits a little higher than I anticipated however as I am using it temporarily for a camper I am pretty satisfied with it.

That looks way better than the old school camper style next to it. I've never seen diamond plate before. I'd still want the rack that attaches to load up stuff.

Thank you for posting. How much higher than the cab is the shell? I know they do different heights. Have you done anything to the inside? It looks damn good too.

@ETAV8R not too much higher, a few inches at most. I have build a sleeping platform inside with a storage space dedicated underneath. Love the shell its light weight but sturdy, comes insulated with carpet and reinforced cross members, sliding windows etc. This particular model sites roughly 23" high I believe. This is setting me up not only to camp across the country but move a good majority of my personal belongings as well. I'll keep you posted.

The lifetime doesn't offer exact color matches however they have a pallet of colors to choose from, this color matched pretty nicely and only ran me an extra $35 to have it painted before shipping.

    Any inside pics?
Can you sit inside comfortably too?

That thing is nice. Do you have any more info on the company? I can't even find them on the web.

I'll revive this puppy since I'm looking at the exact lid! Looks great on your double cab. I am currently real close to pulling the trigger on one of these. This is a RoyEl model that is sold at Canopy World up here in the NW. I was looking at them today and pricing one out. I can get one loaded with pop up side windows, full tint, headliner, dome light., roof rack, for around 1k. The fibers with similar stuff are going to run me north of 2k. I like the lightness factor and the old school vibe!
I will post pics when I pull the trigger, I'm waiting for Black Friday for some potential freebees.

I finally got mine in mid December. I'm really liking it, it's been super useful already especially this time of year. It is super light, around 60 or 70 lbs the guy told me. Only problem so far is I had some leaking in the windoor on the passenger side. They put a new windoor on and it leaked worse than the first, so they took it off and sent it back to where they made it to get it figured out. In hindsight I'm wishing I'd just got two sliders...oh well I might have them change it if they can't keep the windoor from leaking. The rack has been sweet for carrying a ladder or two or lumber. I'll use it for bikes too as soon as I get some Thule bike hold downs...20171227_091510.jpg

Have you thought of doing black rims?
Would go with the black shell.

Really like the shell. So what did it set you back ?
    Your in Washington.
