I've had 2 duramax's I 03 and 08 the 03 was built the 08 had all emissions deleted and a tune. The diesel bug is way more money than the Tacoma bug.... I still love diesels.... around here the are bro'd out punk rides.... so I got rid of mine at 27 when I pulled up in it you get stereotyped and I didn't like it!! It depends on your needs and wants.... I will have another duramax but the Tacoma is more practical right now!! I plan to keep it a long time diesels will come and go.... the maintenance expense isn't to bad on a duramax as long as you stay on top of it

My other half veto'd the F150 right after I'd finalized specs and gave the go ahead for ordering. Luckily it was like 3 minutes later so truck never got sent.

Anyhoo.. 12k. This much I know. :anonymous:

I would only be looking at a GMC Sierra Denali HD w/ Duramax in this price range

I don't know where you folks are getting the diesel prices over gas. In CA they're lower. 5- 10 cents a gallon lower.

AS THEY SHOULD BE. Less refined fuel, cheaper to make, cheaper to sell. It's a damn conspiracy. Diesels are better in every fucking aspect except speed. The government controls are what make it so damn expensive.

Offroad diesel might be cheaper to make but the hydrocracking that ultra low sulfur diesel requires drives the price up as does the switch from light, sweet crude to sour crude.

It's 10-20 cents a gallon more here in nc.... the thing abou diesel is it's easy to get a tank full of water with some diesel mixed in.... I only got diesel at one station in town bc I knew it was clean. Run a lubricant additive every tank bc that low sulfur has no lubrication compared to the old stuff.....

LOL..... the GMCs interior is a joke... went and sat in a brand new one and it didnt even compare to a mid grade ford.

If i HAD to buy an american made truck it would be a Ford.... chevy, never again, me and 3 of my buddies who had chevys will never own one again after the big issues left n right.

That stated, as much as i like the power of the F150 eco boost.... just too many moving parts there, id rather have a reliable old school v8 that gets pretty much the same mpgs.

We'll agree to disagree on this point, but I wouldn't refer to the interior appointments of the Denali as a joke. I've never been a Ford guy, but I wouldn't call their interior (or exterior for that matter) a joke. To each their own.

Literally just did a back to back comparison of a brand new 70k GMC denali and a ~40k ford..... everything about the inside of the ford felt so much more sturdy... the GMC denali was super plasticy

I've got a 2010 Dodge 2500 with the Cummins. The thing is a beast and seriously nice to drive. I don't know that it has a lot of extra maintenance. Maintenance is typically more $$$ than my Tacoma, though.

My opinion on buying a diesel truck is that you do so for the power, not the mileage.
