So I'm an audiophile and I needed desperately to upgrade the stereo system in this thing. So I went ahead and ordered myself a jl audio 10w6v3 in a ported box. Going to make it be easily removable, just in case. To compliment that, im adding a 3 way component set from CDT (anniversary edition) for the front soundstage. 6.5 kevlar in the door, 2" mid/tweeter combo in the dash and 1" transient tweeters positioned top driver/passenger side on the windshield. Also some CDT coaxial speakers for the rear door and the back hatch all powered by a Phoenix Gold sx1200.5 amp. Im keeping the stock head unit for now as I haven't learned to hate it yet. I'll be adding a Memphis audio LL6 processor to clean up the signal. Getting this done next week along with a 2" lift and some 1.25" wheel spacers. Gonna see how the stock tires look with the lift and maybe get some 285 ko2s if it looks like she skipped leg day.
Anyways, ill update once the job is done.

Like I said, I'm an audiophile. Plus, I didn't want to get rid of the stock head unit just yet. Not to say the stock equipment isnt good, but going from focals and jls to stock is a system shock to me. But I understand your opinion.

I plan on upgrading when I get my pro but I'm waiting on Rockfords new digital sound processor. It looks pretty sweet

Curious what Tacoma you had before and how you feel the highway/road handling compares with this verses your truck. I am going from a 2016 TRD off road double cab to a TRD Pro Runner and wondering about cornering handling on road etc because contrary to popular belief and admission by anyone, thats where this thing will be driven 90% of the time. I had a 2014 Limited 4runner that drove really really well for what it was but I dont dislike the Tacoma TRD offroads ride either. Also how is road noise from the tires compared to your Tacoma? Having never driven this thing before I pick it up trying to find what to expect..

My Tacoma was a 2012 trd sport. Nothing was stock on it anymore though. The ride is much better on the 4runner pro. I drove the 4runner trail and it was really stiff/bumpy. The pro is much softer and more comfortable on road. Haven't taken her off road yet to judge. IMG_20170128_112811_273.jpgmy tacoma just before I sold it.
I dont regret the decision to go to the 4runner at all, if that helps...

Picked up my 4runner on Saturday from the stereo shop and I'm completely blown away at the sound quality from the CDT speakers. I played my usual songs to test mids, highs, and bass, and I am shocked that these speakers sound better than my Focals. The 1 JL 10W6V3 in the high output ported box hits 3x harder than my 2-10" JL's in the stealthbox, and much cleaner as well. Hotel California sounds like your center stage at a concert, Toto's Rosanna (used for SQ testing) sounds incredible. I'm also using bluetooth audio for the tests...can't imagine what the CDs would sound like. All this with the stock HU...I'll upgrade to a fancy HU in a year or two and I'm sure the sound quality will only get better from there.

Lift, wheel spacers and possibly new tires soon!

Looks dope. If they still made them in a V8 I probably would have gone for this same one too.

    Congrats!

Im getting 17mpg with this thing. Itll probably be around 15 when i lift her and put 33s on. I cant imagine what it'd be with a V8. Power is decent on it, but I have a race car for my need for speed. IMG_20150615_213224.jpg

Yeah, thats about what I'm getting in my taco. I would imagine the mileage would be similar or a bit better with the v8, as the torque would probably help out a lot with the bigger tires. Our v6 is pretty dinky with torque lol.

Nice mustang! My buddy's pops has a restored GT350 Eleanor in cherry red with the big 427 in it, built by fusion motors. Thing is a blast to drive!
