A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
Thank you for doing what you do -- I was actually sort of in the same line as you -I started out as a ECM tech and wound up as a airborne crew member (AMT -they call them "flight engineers" now) on RC-135M's during the viet nam era.
Amen to what you say I used the electronics training I got while in the USAF the rest of my working career! Air force and Navy have and give the best tech training, but the promotions seem to come a little slower -- at least it seemed that way then

I'm having an impossible time deciding on a career. I'm currently going to community college for recreation management. No idea what I want to do with it but I am going to finish the associates because I am so close. Currently I work 2 jobs, one at a rock climbing gym.

Should I just suck it up and jump into something? I don't expect handouts or want to make millions. Just want a stable job that lets me enjoy my hobbies.

Go talk to a military recruiter ;)

See that all the time in our office, no real direction and wanting a stable job that has potential.

x2 I wish I could join the military so badly. If anything, you'd still learn a lot. Plenty of benefits also.

I'm pretty well set on staying in AZ and I've been dating a girl here for almost 3 years, I'm not about to run off. I've thought about military but I don't think its the direction I want to go in. Thank you for the input.

I'm a partner in a CBD Company. I was a Toyota Mechanic before my current venture though, just didn't like doing maintenance work anymore!

Our CBD is derived from industrial hemp, so kind of? I am potentially working directly with cannabis in illinois soon!

How'd you get in a job like that? I think it would be interesting.

I was lucky enough to land a job at San Diego Hydroponics in CA, and met a customer who I got along with and was offered a job. It has definitely been an interesting path. Learning the medicinal side of the plant and getting to meet patients that I have had the opportunity to help is really satisfying and prompted me to invest money in the growing CBD industry this past year as well.

Try the Guard or Reserve. You may be able to get a full time position which is a fairly stable job and never have to leave AZ. You will end up going through training in Texas and additional training elsewhere but unless you are a linguist it's not terribly long. From day one of basic training (boot camp) until I was trained and ready to work was 8.5 months... but that is a lot longer than average.

Edit: Texas is for Air Force related training... other branches train in other, less awesome, states.

The Air Force has training facilities all over the US (some in other countries as well) I know for a FACT, That most all of the Air Force's communication and aircraft electronics training IS at Keesler AFB Biloxi Ms.
The training places vary as to what field you are in.
The Linguist training is done in Monterey Ca. (I think)

My electronics training was 1yr at Biloxi, then later, 10 months more specialized Goodfellow AFB Tx.

...^^^... If you do decide on the military ... try USAF first ... your shelf life is better there and schools are good too.

If I was going to do it again as a "lifer" ... it would be USAF in maybe a (non-gun-ship-type) C-130 ... :)

I'm a fuel and gasoline relocation associate. Been doing it for five years, but CDL driving since 95. All I know is , you'd be surprised how many people don't care if they live or die out here on our nation's highways. I love my yota.

After driving with some of our military truck drivers and doing it a bit myself I definitely give y'all ALOT more room than I did when I was young and dumb.
