No, they are totally different. I think Toyota may call them spider gears in the manual.

I just did the what they call "center bearing" I figured I may as well do the U-joints since I have to take off the driveline anyhow. But any ways its not an awful job.

I did the same thing but only because I was tired of servicing them. Went with the sealed type.

I just did my center bearing last weekend. Super easy job with minimal tools. I would recommend a 2 arm puller with a decent reach on it to get the bearing off. When you install your new bearing make sure you have it on the right way and then I believe the torque to set the bearing is 153 ft lbs then you back it off and re torque to 51 ft lbs.

This site has most if not all your specs and some good pics. I used it to do my release bearing, clutch, flywheel, and center bearing.

Should there be any play in the carrier bearing? None or a little?

So you suggest that if I'm going to do the carrier bearing I should also do the U joints?
I didn't see any play in the U joints so I was thinking of just doing the bearing and seeing how it goes after that. Thoughts?

I'll make a write up when I do my work in 2 weeks. Waiting for the parts to arrive and headed to my buddies heated garage.

You have to remove one in order to get to the nut that holds the yoke on; then you can remove the carrier. You can reuse the old u-joint but if you mess it up removing it be prepared to replace it.

now that is good advice! I'll just go ahead and buy 3 u Joints then, pretty cheap at $15 each.

sorry to jack your thread man. I'll try my best to pay back with a write up.

Just double check those part numbers. Theres nothing like getting half way into the project only to see you have the wrong parts.

    Good luck

So I got under my truck and looked at the carrier bearing. Looks brand new... I couldn t find any play in the drive shaft either. I'm going to do some other work tomorrow but I'll grease up my zerks while I'm under there. If this fixes the problem I'll let y'all know. Ended up buying like 800$ in other parts.

So I went to my Toyota dealer to get the yoke nut and I am told that its not a serviceable yoke and that I would need to be an entire drive shaft for that nut...anyone who has done it have a part number for the yoke nut?

If you can get the part number off your drive shaft, Spicer will have the part number. You may also be able to just give the year, make and model of your truck. Then use their distributors to get it. It will be much less than dealer prices.

You need a jaw puller to remove the yolk. Put the center of the puller on the center of the threaded portion of the shaft
