The thing about ecoboost most people don't realize is when the engine is making large power the fuel to air ratio becomes extremely rich in order to cool the turbo and catalyst. Ineffecient and gas guzzling!

All turbo cars suck gas when on the throttle ;)

While true, my 2.7 ecoboost gets 17mpg. My 3.4 1st gen gets the same mpg's but puts out half the power. The ecoboost surprised the hell out of me when i first drove it. I would love to have the eco power in my yota, but I could never shame my taco with Ford parts.

I actually thought they designed 2 different Turbos to use on the Eco Boost Engines to help make power, reduce lag, and create efficiency, one was supposed to be a small turbo and the other a larger one.

Nope. 1 turbo per cylinder bank.

Correct, but I could swear I read somewhere they were different sizes, almost like a Variable Intake Manifold to allow power throughout the powerband and not just low or high rpms.

possibly. But I don't think Ford uses a variable vane turbo.

I'm confused, is the Taco supposed to be a speed demon? I thought this was a pickup truck. I've got a 2.7 manual on order, and I'm quite sure it'll be quick enough for me.

I live in FL, I haven't come across to many rust problems unless the truck has been driven in other states

Unless your objective is to race with rednecks, you'll do just fine.

And if you REALLY want to make them feel like... donkeys...
When they try to race you, just drive like a grandma. It *REALLY* pisses them off, because its like "you and your petty competition are so far beneath me that I will just ignore you"

That can really depend on where in FL. If you're inland, then you can get some pretty good long vehicle life without significant rust. If you're on the water (continuous year round warm dampness and salt bath), then holy hell look out.

Yeah you'd really have to drive the beaches often or live right on the coast

I disagree, I live in Fl in a waterfront home, and my 12 year old 4Runner didn't have a speck of rust. Maybe on the east coast if you are right on the beach where the waves are bigger, I'm on the west coast though, we don't get big waves, and thus don't really get the salt spray.
I am originally from the Virgin Islands though, and down there you get rust right away, from exactly what you are talking about, my Wrangler was covered in rust at 5 years old, not just the frame but through the paint.

I don't know why this thread blew up the way it did, but yeah, what would you expect? When the Eco boost F-150s came out when I was still working at Ford. I remember the first time a drove one. They are impressive machines no doubt. Not having a family, I cannot justify nor do I need the extra space and F-150 or any full size truck has.

My good friend has one now and I love riding in that truck. They haul ass and his sounds great. Don't know which exhaust it has. Makes me want to supercharge my Tacoma every time I ride in it. I just haven't even looked to see if that would do any justice. Can we turbo our 4.0s?

I think they discontinued the trd supercharger, but you could probably get a left over or used one.

Could be, but generally OEM sanctioned parts, at least in my experience, are cleaner installs and more reliable.
