Pain like no other! I had a woman tell me she would rather have 4 more kids than 1 more kidney stone! They told me they consider 3-4mm passable. Mine was 10mm. Had to have it cut up with a laser. I think you can figure out how they got the laser there Good thing I was snoozing!

I could go for some beer right now, as i sit here waiting for time to pass

 

Finished my last one with a mouth full of gauze. Guess I will try and sleep but...those weird dreams are a comin.

Ugh, Kidney stones fuckin suck. Got my first one on deployment, stuck on a ship, they don't have the stuff to help break it down, hopped me up on painkillers and a saline IV in each arm to help push it through. It started out as "I kinda have to pee, but nothings coming out" went to medical thinking I had a UTI or something, within 20 minutes of waiting on the doc it turned in to "OH GOD KILL ME NOW". Some dumbass came in and tried to say I was faking it (boot camp Coreman), the doc was standing there watching me and told the guy to GTFO because the pain I was in couldn't be faked, just looking at my face. Couldn't keep percocet down long enough to kick in, so after about 2 hours they finally gave me dual IV's and then a shot of morphine, which is amazing btw. After that I just kinda floated around in la la land until finally passing it later that day.

Second time was in Cancun, Thank God the day AFTER my wedding and when everyone was leaving. Popped a bunch of Ibuprofin and started chugging water...paced around in our room and put on a fake smile for all the well wishers for about 3 hours before it passed.

Third time I was at home, couldn't sleep that night, did the same as in Cancun...the next day at my buddy's house, went to take a piss, passed the stone right there. He was laughing so hard because he heard me yelp in the bathroom and figured that's what happened.


Correlation between the all? I was taking Hydroxycut each time to cut weight and wasn't drinking near enough water.

Cancun may have been a combination of Hydroxycut and sitting outside in 100% humidity and 100 degrees and chugging liquor for about 5 days before my wedding

 

oh Navy medical...so worthless!! I always hated to have to deal with them.

 

Stay hydrated my friends.

 

If you're thirsty drink water, not coke or pepsie or even Gatorade. Remember if you feel thirsty that's your body saying it needs water.

Oh, also a fun fact, turns out once you get kidney stones once, you're more prone to get them in the future. So that's great news I wish I would have heard the first time around

 

but nothing like that 'burning of the throat' feeling in the morning from an ice cold coke!

 

Luckily one of my friends worked there so she was popping in to check on me and keep me out of the hands of the worthless ones lol. One of the few times I felt like Navy Medical actually did something for me lol.

I can regale you of the time I showed up at sick call, had a 103.9 fever (tonsillitis it turned out to be), and was told we had 'Cleaning Stations' from 730-830 so I had to come back at 830. All the Doc's straight up refused to see me. My Chief made me go sit in the back and pass out and then had to have me half carried to medical since I was pretty out of it by then.

 

Can't deny that, I'm no health freak here. When I work days I drink 1 cup of coffee in the morning followed by water all day. When I work nights I might have a soda or 2. When I'm off I drink beer all night and water until I start back on beer.

 

I am definitely guilty of not drinking enough water!
