Just do the sway bar flip or sway bar relocate. They both work equally well.

Sway bar flip? Never heard of it. Can you elaborate?

Not sure if this might help, but I first heard the term from my gaming buddies. It is commonly considered an offensive remark.

    Lets put it this way;

I once was driving a vehicle that had one of its swaybar links break DURING a turn. The effect is that the vehicle immediately tilted towards the outside of the turn (inside suspension fully extended, outside suspension fully compressed), and then, it kept tilting even further -- the inside wheel LEFT THE GROUND. It came very close to rolling over. If I was taking the turn just a little bit tighter, or a little bit faster, it WOULD have rolled.

Actually its quite the opposite. A sway bar gives you the 'sensation' of the truck being better composed because it forces the suspension to act as one single piece, rather than working INDEPENDENTLY like INDEPENDENT front suspension was designed to work. The sway bar might make the truck 'feel' more composed, but what actually happens is the sway bar keeps the suspension even as far as travel is concerned. Under strong cornering forces, the sway bar will force the tire on the inside of the corner to lift excessively and can cause sudden loss of grip at the limit. If your suspension is stiff enough to limit bodyroll then you will experience much higher grip without a swaybar because the swaybar will not be 'peeling' the inside tire off the pavement by limiting its ability to downtravel.
If you have too much body roll you CAN more easily flip, which is what ItalynStylion was getting at. If you have stiffer suspension to control bodyroll then allowing the suspension to work independently will increase cornering grip, and significantly so.

One thing that hasn't really been mentioned is the idea that MORE grip, for a vehicle with a high center of gravity, isn't necessarily a good thing. If you have enough grip, eventually you'll turn so hard you roll the vehicle. But when grip is diminished, the tires will slide BEFORE the vehicle turns over. So with a sway bar, your HANDLING is better (as defined as being more responsive to steering inputs) but the mechanical grip (defined as skidpad numbers) is diminished. Pick your poison.

Ah I do see that...atleast it seems both approaches have some benefits.

Only thing that will measurably affect response to steering inputs is adjusting your toe out by ~.25-.5* per side.

Again, I will reiterate that I would ONLY recommend removing a sway bar if somebody has stiff suspension. It should be noted that the third gen tacoma comes with 717in-lb coils which are plenty strong enough to control body roll. Pair those coils with some shocks that are stiff enough and adjustable and you would have the best cornering performance possible.

I have a swaybar in my garage I'll sell if you want to replace it (assuming it's the same as the 5 lug swaybar).

I'm actually working on something. I already sourced a spare sway bar and the work is in progress. No idea if my method will work or not. I'll be testing it on my own vehicle soon. Could be catastrophic lol.

I towed the largest size uhaul trailer (totaling 3.5k pounds) from Norfolk, VA to Pensacola, FL. Just shy of 1,000 miles. Did it in two days and the truck hauled it like a champ! Didn't need tow mirrors or any mods to the truck at all. If you're an auto transmission, then maybe you could pick up a scanguage or ultraguage to monitor transmission temps. I didn't need to worry about it since I had a 6 speed.

    Whole lotta stuff
I will agree with this. However, I believe this slight mechanical center-of-gravity holdover to be not very significant in a pickup truck application. It neuter's IFS suspension's capabilities off-road and it transmits vibration, without much noticeable gain on stock vehicles. To me, it does more harm than good. On pickup truck applications.

I would love it if a few daily driver swaybar removal advocates took a video of a very simple test that any idiot can do in an empty parking lot.

    Washington RCW 204-10-036
    Suspension.
A motor vehicle must be capable of stable, controlled operation while traversing a slalom-type path passing alternately to the left and right of at least four cones or markers arranged in a straight line and spaced sixty feet apart at a minimum speed of 25 mph.

For bonus points post before and after video. Maybe we get some "moose test" fails or the delete advocates are proven right.

Edit - Think I will post a swaybar delete Charlene challenge thread....

I think every truck would have to have the same suspension and tires to draw any kind of useful data from this. Although it would be pretty entertaining to see either way. I regularly drive like an asshole and haven't come close to rolling yet so I'm about 87% sure I could pass this test.
