You ever figure out if you're running DC driveshafts or single u-joint? I'm looking for a core (or 2) to retube so I have some new driveshafts for the season, no luck around here at the pick-n-pull.

I might have an extra single joint shaft out in the garage if you want it. Its a stock section that goes from the tcase to the carrier bearing on a first gen Tacoma

Thanks but the DC joint is really what I need. My pinion angles are set-up for the DC shafts already. I usually pull them from 1st gens and 4runners and just have them lengthened for me.

That's what I figured, I'll double check if I have any extras but I doubt it right now. Maybe a mini truck/early 4Runner at best

Haha I remember another member that tried that and it didn't go over so well for him. :bananadead:

I'll be running DCs front and rear but I have around a dozen driveshafts, so I have plenty to spare. I can bring one down soon, give you back your brake press, and pick up my cargo straps and hi-lift that I forgot in Eric's truck back in October.

On that note, does anyone know if you can buy new bearing cups alone, or are they only available with a new joint?

Maybe through Napa if you have one you can get it alone but I think it's with the joint.

Caps for the u joint? I don't think they come seperate. And rebuilding the DC joints is a PITA and the only u joints worth putting in are the OEM Matsuda joint only available from jess for like 70 bucks each :/

So when the DC goes the shaft does too lol...minus the SY

Nooope. Didn't solve the problem, but it proved where the leak was coming from. Things seem to be okay *so far*. I just shortened the rear driveshaft but haven't taken it out on the road yet. Truck will probably shake like a MFer.

Another delay in the Taco build... or is it? Moving back to Colorado ~ 2 weeks! :goingcrazy:

Truck has been running flawlessly but it's time to move on, unfortunately. I moved to Fort Collins earlier this month and didn't think about/realize they had emissions laws this far north of Denver. In addition to that, I'm paying an arm and a leg for rent and can't afford the payments on the loan.

Going to finish up a few details on the truck, take a shitload of pictures, and put it up for auction. I'll give it a build thread afterward.

On that note, six years after getting my first Addicted trail armor installed on the truck, I now work for Addicted Offroad.

sucks you have to part with that beauty...but welcome to CO and the addicted team...scotty and those guys are a great group and put out some amazing product and builds!

bad timing for me..i told myself that if you ever parted with that truck i'd be the first to call dibs, but there's no way i can make that happen financially at this point...

wonder how far you'd have to be from the city to avoid the emissions? i'm used to it here in denver metro...didn't think they had it up there

Thanks. I don't know how far away I'd have to live to avoid emissions, but it's nice to be living ~1/4(?) mile from the shop. I'd keep looking for a way around it but the loan is what kills it for me. Especially knowing that restored/restomodded can fetch ~3x what I originally paid for it. Whatever it sells for, it's worth every penny.
