Wondering if someone csn help me with this question?
I'm going to be puting 1.5 inch wheel spacers on my 2011 toyota tacoma 4X4 this weekend and its kinda looking like I night need to do some trimming of my front wheel wells if I want to make any shsrp turns to keep the tires f4om rubbing the wheel wells, Has anyone out there put 1.5 inch wheel spacers on there 2011 tacoma and if so did you have to start chopping? Thanks in advance.

I put 1.25" on my 2006 and it did rub the mudflaps when I turned. My tires are slightly larger than stock BFG 265/70/17 instead of the stock 265/65/17.

It wasn't rubbing that bad, but I would have had to trim a little to keep them on.

Just a little correction here... 265 is the width of the rubber. Playing with the second number (70 instead of 65) only change the height of the tire.

    For op's question, I am running 265 70 16 tires with 1.25 spacers and I don't have any rubbing.

I have spidertrax, don't remember if they are 1.25 or 1.5 and I rub full lock with 265 75 16. I removed the stupid front flap that it would hang up on and it only rubs on the front flap which I ignore

New to Toyotas. Just upgraded the wheels and tires, It looks like 1.5 spacers on Toyotas are pretty common. My question is..... are this safe? Have anybody had wheel spacers come off or break?

Some people have had wheel spacers come off and or break. Take away is don't get cheap ones, get ones that are hub centric like spidertrax. Do not over torque any of the lug nuts... Most wheels that have come off look like they are related to someone over torquing.

I just ordered my 1.25 inch hub centric wheel spacers from allprooffroad.com. I was also told that it would be a wise choice to get the "ET" Lug nuts for the front because of the short lug nuts and the longer nuts they sell grabs onto a lil extra thread length for safety. I also found through talking to people that if I go with 1.25 inch instead of 1.50 inch hub centric wheel spacers that I'll have less of a chance of wheel rub on the front and back of the front wheel wells but thats just what I've been told (we'll see) I also just put on a leveling kit on tbe front so it sits level and I have 265-70-17 tires. Hope it helps ya a little? Also make sure you Re-Torque the spacers after the first 500 miles and every 25,000 miles there after to 90 foot lbs

When I bought my spacers there was red locktite in the box to use with. I didn't used it and when I retorqued them everything was fine. In my case I didn't used them because I will take them off when I will put on my winter tire set. IMO, If you plan to put them on and keep them for a while it would be a good idea to use the locktite.

I just bought some blue locktite because I didnt know if my spacers would come with some or not. Im using blue just because Im always paranoid about my tire passing me on the freeway. Btw, Do any of you live in Vegaa? Im thinking about starting up a Tacoma group.

    a bunch of new/used parts....and some skids.
So would it be more beneficial to get a 1.25" spacer or a set of rims with 4" backspacing? OEM being 5.5" backspacing.
Seeing as people have issues with the spacers braking from over torquing and having to retorque them every so often would a new set of 4" BS rims allow for no rub and a more reliable connection?

Definitely interested in the results! I have 265/75 and they rub on the UC just the tiniest bit on full lock.

I'm running the exact combo that @gregzz is running. The extended lug nuts a a good option to add for sure. I had to do minimal trimming on the inner, bottom edge of the fender flare. I'm running 285/75/16 w/ fjc trails team wheels that also stick out a little further than stock Tacoma or wheels. In my opinion though I wouldn't use loctite and if use anti seize instead. Torque will be more consistant and accurate with less chance of galling and corrosion. It's easy to just check the torques when tires get rotated. With loctite it will lock st that point but if thing stretch, move or expand/ contract the lug nut will be locked in the same spot and you'll have a false retorque reading. My opinion though.

Noooo, you have it backwards. The lower the backspacing, the farther it would stick out.

OHH. I reread what you said as I was typing. I thought you were going to get 4" BS rims and add spacers to it. Disregard. The magic number around here for BS is 4.5". That's what I'm running.

So, stock rims with a 1.25" spacer is equivalent to a 4.5" backspace rim?
