Hi guys, long time lurker here, did a bunch of mods thanks to you guys.
But my 2009 dc base model sr5 will not shift out of park. Parked in my drive with slight decline. I always use e brake when parking. I started truck as normal but would not shift from park at all. Abs light is on.

Just noticed break lights are not working nor parking lights. Signals work. For past several months when i pressed brake parking light would come on unless i turned parking lights on.

Seems like electrical issue, always shifted no problem. Any imput would be great.

    Update!
I changed stop light switch and still abs indicator on and till no break lights. Still will not shift out of park.

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks
    Jamie

Use the shift lock and put into neutral. Start it and if you can move from every position except park it's the brake switch. Happened on my old car one time. Easy fix and cheap. I wasn't worried really but I was surprised and was like wtf!?!??... just wasn't expecting it when I got into the car to leave.

Don't know what year your truck is mine is a 15. If second gen should be the same. Right about the "P" on the console. Little square get something to pick it out and use your key to push the button down

Same as brake light switch, located on brake pedal.
Shop Manuel on my Mazda also refers to it as a stop light switch.

Glad to hear. That's what we are here for. Buy the cheap part anywhere and plug it in and should be good to go.

    Update 3/6
Ok. I replacedstop light switch.I removed my trailer hitch wiring wich helped. Now, i replaced the fuse and it doesn't pop. We are making progress. I am able to shift out of park, reverse light works on good tail light. I diconnected damaged tail light.

When i shut off ignition off the rear running light stays on.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Ok, i removed stop light switch. When i unplug the harness from stop switch the break lights cut out. When plugged in they stay on without ignition. I tried both new switch and old one with same result.

    Any ideas?
