Replaced my bad idler today. It was the one nearest the alternator. Truck no longer sounds like it has a supercharger.

I had visions of the thing grenading on me two hours from home. Though now that I pulled it, it really wasn't bad at all. Bet it would have gone another year or more easily.

Welp rear ended someone who slammed on the brakes mid turn to merge into a busy street. A cyclist rode in front of him and I didn't catch it on time.

Avalon took a heavy hit meanwhile my truck needs a new plastic bumper. @Mobtown Offroad hidden receiver hitch didn't even flinch. The avalon has a few g's in damage though - the shackle mount went right through his trunk.

Thankfully I have a new bumper on the way.

On a side note the smart-tap strobing hazard lights worked perfectly everyone slowed down as it the truck was an emergency vehicle haha

I have a pelfreybilt hybrid on order - but I need to do suspension first. Sucks because my insurance might go up - but I'm waiting on the suspension group buy to close so that can get ordered.

Curious if the insurance company brings up the situation of the aftermarket shackle mount, since it obviously caused the brunt of the damage?

And it was a taxi, or shuttle (livery plates)?

Good question, I've always wondered the "what if" question with alot of aftermarket stuff. I'm just glad no one was hurt. Accidents happen, we pay insurance for a reason. This sounds like one of those spots a dash cam might be helpful? Don't know enough about them at this point to know if it would have come into play. Just my 0.02 cents on the matter.

 Thanks man. That thing is a piece of art! Plus it's made right here in MA
Yeah I saw that they were doing a GB for them in CA and figured why not do something for around here. It can't actually say Tacoma World on it but maybe do some sort of regional TW type of thing. Maybe have Scott draw up something and get 15-20 shirts printed or whatever the demand would be. What do you guys think?

I was only about 75% sure I was replacing the right one. I spun the top two and the tensioner and this was the one that stopped slightly quicker (the bottom one was too hard to get to for me to want to bother to spin it). It also was the only one with rust on the bolt. So, I figured it must be the one that got exposed to water and had bearing issues. If you spin it with it out, you can kind of tell it might not be 100% healthy. Amazing that it could make that much noise.

I'd buy one, but I keep seeing signatures that say "NY and NJ are not NE". LOL. Hey why not since I've joined the forum it seems every page its "hey that cool, I should do that" Like I was told when I joined kiss your wallet good by. Seems like most here are an extremely tight community and willing to help out where they can. I'm still learning how it all works.

Just did these on my plow truck last weekend. As you see by the pic, I had NO PROBLEM telling which one was bad. LOL. Got my monies worth out of it anyway.

Not sure I doubt my insurance company will notice the shackle but we will see. That shackle saved my truck from more damage. The other guy? Not so much but that's the point for me. Haha
