Every mod made to every vehicle could be considered unsafe. There was a shit ton of R&D put into every vehicle on the road. Just putting a set of tires on a vehicle that it didn't come equipped with could be "unsafe".

Is it odd that these are the most comfortable seats I have ever sat in inside a vehicle.

6 hour road trip and my back/rear end werent even sore.

I sympathize, Ledfoot, as I had the same problem with several Hondas my wife had in the '80s. I could not get comfortable in those things no matter WHAT I did! Oddly enough, after shunning the gen 1 +2 Tacomas because the seating was too low (5'6", 220), I find my 2016 perfect. My wife and I have made two trips from Ohio to Florida and back, and on the last one, I drove the entire trip because I was perfectly comfortable. The Taco and my 2003 4Runner have been the two most comfortable seats I've driven (I'm now 67 and creaky!). I HOPE that you can find a solution!

@ 212 lbs. I sink in a bit, if it bothered me, I'd get seat covers and
put enough foam to make it feel right under the cover... at least
that way it would stay in place for you.

I don't know if it's the seats or the seating position that makes it a little awkward. I wish the steering wheel telescoped about two more inches. I know that would help with my seating position.

The seats are OK except not good for long trips. After about 2 hours of driving my lower back and my ass starts to go numb in the turdgen seats. We use our 2016 4runner for road trips because of that.

It's the angle of the bottom of the rear of the seat I'm talking about, it's like sitting in a hole, being we have no power seat option to raise the rear bottom of the seat to bring it leval with the front part like you would be sitting normally on a chair or a couch leval. It's the angle putting you're but in the hole in the rear bottom of the seat and the front of you're legs being raised higher that long trips causes backaches on long trips.. most trucks have a power seat option to raise the rear of you're seat to be leval with the front part of you're seat to get you in the sweet spot..

You'll get accustomed to it man. Just give it time. Took me some time to get used to my Tacoma seat and its lack of adjustments, particularly since I am weird shaped, on the shorter side 5'9 but on the heavy side of 200lb. If the seat had had an electronic adjustment it would be better for me, and probably for you as well.

I agree with you on people that do a five minute test is not long enough but I had the truck out for a test a lot longer then that.. but unfortunately not long enough, it's the long 2 to 3 hour drives that gets me, I'm not one of the guys that complain on here all the time most of my post on here are positive ones I like my truck and the gas I'm saving coming from a Tundra just think the seats could be better..

No test drive I've ever heard of is going to demonstrate that the seats aren't comfortable for 2+ hours. Mainly because I can't think of any Toyota dealers that are going to let you take a brand new third gen out for a 150+ mile "test" drive. The seat comfort factors are going to be a subjective thing

OP are you over weight? Im slightly over weight for my height(5'8") but i still find the seats comfortable. Nothing "pokes" in. The slight bucket style is nice cuz you dont slip in any way out of your seating position. I do feel you on the back pain though. It took a few weeks to get the lumbar adjusted to the right setting but once i got that adjusted i dont experience any back issues anymore which has been a big issue for me due to a damaged disc. I know everyone is different and hopefully you get it resolved. In my previous vehicle id have to take breaks from driving regularly on long trips because the seats and my back were not compatible.

6'3" 380lbs, I wish the seat was about .5 - 1" shorter. Tech package with mandatory moon roof makes headliner about 1" lower. Width isn't an issue. Then again I came from a 2003 GMC Sonoma so this thing is gigantic in compairson.
