Anyone know of the proper way to reset the ECM?

I have been told to unplug the positive cable for an hour but I don't think it did squat.

Yes a battery disconnect will do it, but to be sure you might want to let it sit longer than 1 hour. Not sure if that is the official/proper way but it works.

I disconnected the battery while changing spark plugs, was about 2 hours total disconnect time. Definitely noticed a difference in the way it ran, way more than would be caused by a new set of plugs. Took about 3 days to get normal again.

Way late but I got her done. She runs like a top after the ECM recalibration was finished learning the new injectors.

It doesn't always reset fuel trim but it starts the throttle relearn over again, and it can take hours to figure out the ETCS if the valve is dirty.

Yes it will. You will need to complete a few drive learns after doing it. It consists of various driving conditions. I can't post the picture of the info but someone on the 2nd gen forum posted it years ago.

The only thing it took was 3 drive learns. First one I followed it to the Tee. The next were scattered about and the truck runs great after I completed them.
After new injectors the truck would black smoke. After the ECM reset it ran great and zero smoke.
