I have a 02 toyota tacoma sr5 prerunner 3.4 and the title says it is 4x2 and i have 4 years driving this truck.
Two weeks ago i took the truck to a shop to get a 3in lift and 20x9 wheels and a 275/55/20 tires. After they got the job done they came with some issues with the upper and lower controls arm and ball joints on both sides so they ordered the parts and !
surprise ! the parts they ordered didnt fit on the suspension
because they found out the truck has the 4x4 suspension on it and they told me that the previous owner made some change to the truck
how do i find out if thats true or false ?
the truck has ECT button on the right side of the steering wheel

What parts did they order? That sounds like BS to me, most of the suspension parts are interchangeable.

They may gave ordered parts for the 5 lug, instead the 6 lug like yours. Good luck.

You have a prerunner . 4x4 and prerunner have the same suspension like someone already said. From factory. Mechanic probably doesn't know about it. Take it to someone else to fix it;)

Yeah, you said that in the original post. You need to give us additional information if you want your questions answered.
What parts did they order, specifically? Like, control arms, tie rod ends, ball joints, strut assembly, wheel bearings, etc.
I am guessing your mechanic doesn't know what they're doing.

    Hence the name "Prerunner"

5lug suspension is different than the 6 lug, sounds like they assumed it was 5 lug because it's 2wd. But like already stated, the 4x2 Prerunners are built on the 4x4 frame.
