Makes sense. I was thinking about using it for a slight bump up as well.

Take a flat piece of wood. Drill two holes in it big enough to fit a sharpie snugly. Use the bottom sharpie to run along the bottom of the fender opening. The second sharpie draws the cut line. Got the idea from @cynicalrider

Mine are cut 2". I did not have to cut my rear bumper. I just cut 2" and then tapered down to nothing at the bumper. Cut the fenders with a die grinder. Left the flares off and painted where the flares used to be with spray on bed liner. I used this http://trailtoys.net/products/a-better-edge-trim to edge the fenders. It's pricey, but really nice. No adhesive, just clamps on.

Of course I cut my cab mount a LOT, and did all the hammering on the fire wall, and folded the pinch weld over like everyone else on 35's.

I'm looking at 305/75/17s. That comes out to about 34x11. Any input on whether or not that would require trimming fenders? I'm ok with a cmc and smashing a pinch weld. I'm on a 3" ome lift with SOS bumpers.

Im going to say probably. My buddy just did that size but he has a body lift as well so didn't need to cut. He did remove the fender covers though. Toss them on and go for a drive. You will know if you need to after some flexing.

I liked that this popped up again. When I get to it I want a high cut similar to this. Turned out great.

Question for those of you that cut the fenders and flares. Does mud and other stuff now get stuck in between since the flare no longer wraps around the fender edge? And maybe clips dont last as long as they are now exposed? Ive seen a bunch of pictures but never a shot pointing upwards just trying to wrap my head around doing it on my truck. Cutting the bottom rear most part of front fender (near cab mount) looks to be a pain as well?

Yep they are gonna collect mud and shit. But truth be told if you’ve ever pulled you flares then you know that it happened even before cutting them...just to a lesser degree.

You completely loose the bolts on the flares, so make sure ALL of your clips are good. As long as your clips are good to begin with after you cut (I suggest ordering a full set on Amazon for about $20 bucks), they should hold up. My front fender had one broken clip and came off at 80 miles an hour so that one is bolted on now.

I used a dremmel vs an angle grinder for all my cuts...certainly takes longer but it gave me more control and is more forgiving if loose your grip and it runs away from you. Just take your time and go slow.

What are people using to keep rocks, sand, mud and debris from flinging up into the upper fender and areas near the door / hood hinges. Hell, ive even had a few rocks fling into the upper fender and dent the fender from the inside -_-

I ended up using self tapping screws with a sheet of ABS plastic cut to the dimensions of the wheel well opening. It'll do for now
