2.5 lift, the usual that goes with it. Work in progress.
I picked up my 96 for $3500, had 230,000 on her. Runs great and has a new frame under her.

There is no such thing as too many miles on a tacoma. Im at 401k right now with careful maintenance and i DD the living crap out of mine on terrible roads. Never stranded or broken down.

    Pretty much stock right now
Agreed. With reg maintenance. Should there be a bigger issue, those parts/components can be rebuilt/replaced. One consideration may be repair cost vs. overall value to the owner. And possibly the availability of some parts.

    Tacomas just keep on truckin'.

238,000 on my 2001 3.4 DC 4wd. Done water pump, timing belt, ball joints x2, tie rods, rack bushings, shocks x2. I'm shooting for 400K. People try to buy it all the time. Neighbor offered 7K last week and I had to turn him down. It's nice not having a note even if it does require some repairs every now and then.

    OME and worth every penny.
Any vehicle will last longer mileage wise as a DD than if it sits a lot. Mine has close to 200K but at 18 yrs. old, I know it won't make 500K. It would have to still be driving @ 50 yrs. old.

my view is 200k-300k is a much higher risk of having problems with it during the time you own it and anything over 350k is too much for "me" to risk buying it

I think its a good guide to assume you wont get more then 400k out of a Toyota engine before it "needs" rebuilding (loss of power, smoking, burning oil) even though it may continue running to 500k with any or all of the previous mentioned issues. that said, some go trouble free for 500k or more.

if I were buying one I wouldn't want one unless it had less than 200k miles but if it had 200k miles that would be also ok too, just not prefered.

My 2000 ext cab 3.4 has 261xxx with a new motor at 204, I dd it and I'm not very nice to it, and wheeling every Saturday and anytime I see something fun by the side of the road I paid 6800 for it a month ago. Sold my 05 dclb 4.0 with 110 on it for 16K (California sucks for the buyer) no issues other than the sun visors had it since brand new.

Do you have the supercharger or something? Otherwise running premium is just a waste of money.

No I put in regular now it was my dads truck for the first 200,000 I had the same argument with him but I have to give him credit for his theory that it kept it cleaner. I think it's the Techron not the octane

268,065 oil changes every 5000 miles. 1st timing belt change was at 175,000, in the last year replaced alternator, starter and 02 sensors.

Never have been good at changing my oil on a regular basis and even went 20k miles between changes once. Still running strong and have 310,000 miles.

my 2003 was burning 1 qt every 200 miles @ 375k on the odo. It was a problem carrying oil ALL the time and adding it what seemed like every other day. It was some $2200 for a rebuild of my motor with a new head. Should have JDM'ed it, oh well.
