I love the look of that FJ60 but it'd have to see a lot of work done to get it to be as capable as that FJ80 you're looking at.

Yeah, figured you'd get news like that. Honestly, I'd keep looking for something that's double locked in the less than ten grand region if you are in love with the 80 series. But once you get between eight and ten grand you are in the same market as later year model Cruisers that might appeal to the Handbrake a bit more.

    Example:
    IMG_3184.jpg

Now here's the rub. In Texas you will find more of them but they are more desireable there so obviously people want more for them. I'm near St. Louis and there isn't as much of a demand for them here so they trade for less secondhand. With that said, I'd suggest doing more research to make certain what the options are for you within your allotted budget and then start searching in and around Austin and in other markets as well.

I'd also start spending some time on Ih8mud.com and browse through the sections as there are some really freakin' brilliant LandCruiser enthusiasts there.

I believe these come with a locking center diff, which isn't as good as front/rear combo, but still great off-road. And it's under half the price, and it's a lexus.

There is a late 90s LC for sale down the street from my house. its white, looks really clean and i think theyre asking 8500..

I could go over there and check it out if you want- im sure the mileage is high for that price but it may be worth a look

That's what my buddy did, he opted for the Lexus version which was a lot cheaper than the cruiser.

I worked on it an literally everything was Toyota branded, same car, different batches.

No, that just means you'll need an upgrade (SwitchPro) in order to do more upgrades.

I probably go with that Iggy Panel thing before I drop 500 bucks on a switch panel!

Im still deciding what I want to do. The switch pro has BT app compatibility and that is just cool. It could be handy in camping/not in cab situations. The big thing I like about these over the busman fuse panels and similar types of setups, is the cleanliness of the wiring. Everything is in the engine bay except the unit with the buttons. Cash rules everything around me...

Ordering can start as early as August. If you want a DCLB Sport, be prepared to wait. Longer if you add the tech package - they only run that assembly line a few times.
