Cool beans. Just wanted to know your take. I notice that you have a drop-in filter as your air-flow upgrade and I can appreciate that. As someone who owns the TRD intake and has experience with other intakes (AirRaid), I'd like to give the TRD intake a thumbs up.

I did this with my 1st gen. There's a kit that AirRaid made called the "MIT". It basically replaced the stock tube that connected the box to the intake manifold. The MIT eliminated the resonator completely. I also used a high flow filter (Amsoil and Truflow) and what is called the "deck plate" mod and was very happy with the results. Definitely much louder over stock. When you eliminate the resonator, you're going to get it very loud especially at WOT. I personally liked it. I listen to my music loud while driving so the extra sound I got in the cab didn't bother me and it was only really noticeable at WOT.

Just for kicks, here is the AFE CAI installed with the scoop. The scoop really jams air straight into the filter box. I would not like to drive this at high speeds in heavy pouring rain in its current configuration even though AFE says it shouldn't be a problem. I am going to create a fine screen to cover the scoop opening just for peace of mind.

So I can't tell for sure from the picture, but is the scoop just sucking hot air from the radiator???

No, it sits right above the radiator... the height of the scoop is pretty narrow, but as you can see, it make up for it in length.

That's what she said... beat you to it.

I will admit it. At risk of sounding pompous, at this point in my career $600 is admittedly chump change.
