Go to Cape Breton Island. Lots of camping there, great scenery and some great mudding. Check around Loch Lommond area

Cape chignecto provincial park if you're up for a 3 day hike along the coast. Cabot trail in cape Breton. Doers and dreamers is our provincial tourism guide.

What kind of camping do you like? Rissers Beach campground is a personal favourite, the sites in the Little Rissers part are one step off the beach. Ocean will still be cold for swimming though.

Driving around...thought about taking the boat, but we like to check out the scenery...so driving we go. We will be driving halfway, for us it's to the border, we will stay the night at a state park then continue on

We have a 25'TT, so we like full hook ups but we like to be at a quiet and somewhat private place. We were thinking about staying at The Ovens Park?

Well ,I live in southern NS. There isn't much down here at all. The cat boat is the only big thing here. Mostly fishing towns here. A new camp ground opened not far from me . I think it's called Castle Lake Campground. It's on a fresh water lake. Most tourists I see around here come in on the boat, and leave for Halifax or Annapolis Valley areas.

My wife and I did a trip to Nova Scotia last fall (2,500 miles). We camped all around Cape Breton on The Cabot Trail. It was a really nice drive but there is a lot of elevation change along the way and a 25'TT might be a haul on The Cabot Trail. A few nice spots were Indian Brook campground, Inverness and the Five Islands area. If you are willing to make the treck, Meat Cove at the eastern tip of Cape Breton is very nice. Enjoy.

Good call on the 22' travel trailer. I've done the Cabot trail before, and there are some very steep hills (both up and down) and very twisty.

5islands is in my district for work, the provincial park is seeing a couple hundred grand worth of renovations. The camp sites up top have a very nice view looking over the bay of fundy.
Cape chignecto is a backcountry park, not camper trailer friendly.

Thanks for the info. I have heard that the Cabot Trail is a nice scenic ride. We put it on our to do list.

Hey, not sure if you still coming but new to the forums, I live in Antigonish, good little town as a stopping point on your way to cape breton (whidden's campground is right in the town), not sure when in July you are coming but they have a Highland Games festival July 7-9 that has events and a massive beer tent with live music each night that is an awesome time. Also a nice drive out around Cape George outside of town that takes a couple hours (awesome seafood places along the way (Boyd's and Fish n Ships). I have done the Cabot Trail a bunch of times and would recommend parking the travel trailer somewhere at the beginning of the trail and doing the trail over two days and just get a cabin or something for the night somewhere at the top of Cape Breton (we usually stay in Dingwall). If you are doing the trail I would recommend doing it counter clockwise as there is less traffic in that direction and the views are better as you are always on the cliff side of the road, easier to stop along the way and get back out onto the road as well. Enjoy Nova Scotia!

Driving up - I suggest the ferry back from Yarmouth - it's a different type of scenery and you can relax from driving...

In the Valley there are a bunch of wineries

    Camping:
Ellenwood State Park - near Yarmouth
Kedji National Park - south central

I don't have any other camping spots but places to hit would be:
Lunenburg - home of the Bluenose
Yarmouth - I'm partial because I have roots there but it's a good spot to hang out and relax. You can do as much of nothing as you want. Lighthouse, museums, etc. Some good eating and there always seem to be cool stuff going on - car shows, etc.
Acadian Village - Pubnico - think Plymoth Plantation type stuff
    Digby for a whale watch

Cape Breton/PEI are their own trip IMO - so is Newfoundland

Understand the travel rules - passports, etc. Bring a liter and a carton of smokes even if you don't partake - those items are very expensive there so tipping a guy a pack of smokes is like giving $40... NH has the cheapest smokes.

    Good luck, enjoy

If I ever found myself in Nova Scotia I would visit Oak Island. One of the biggest buried treasure mysteries of all time is there.
