Just got my OEM kit in the mail and my Raam Mat pkg. If the weather cooperates, I should have it finished this weekend.

Will I lose all the info in the head unit with battery disconnected for that long or does it retain it? Thanks

I'm very interested in the OEM system. Ideally I would like to listen to one before pulling the trigger on the purchase.
That being said, the idea of a bigger sub on the passenger side sounds appealing but without hearing what the current system sounds like I can only speculate.

    - OEM Audio Reference 450Q - Bilstein 5100's with Old Man Emu 887 - Super white LED interior lights with LED Reverse light. - HID Conversion kit for headlights and fogs 5k - 285/70/17's BFG's K02 - Fuel Anza D558
Searched online for a bit on what was available for the 2017 Taco, and it didn't take long for me to decide on the 450Q system. I was impressed on how easy they made everything in regards to the installation process. I have to give OEM Audio two thumbs up! Very happy with the sound. The mids and highs are crisp and loud enough, I think for most audio enthusiasts. The bass is adequate and not over baring. In fact, I'm surprised how much that 8" sub actually puts out. Install took me about 4 hours. If you have the extra money, go for it! :rockband:

Mines going in in in stages because I don't have a lot of free time.

So far OEM+ fronts with Stock rears.

Got the front and tweets in last night and was cussing all over the place at the door clips. They don't come loose as easily as the videos.

    Sound is noticeably different.
Vocals and highs sound better. Front soundstage sounds more cohesive vs the stock where highs are up top of the dash.
Soundstage feels like the tweets and front speakers are working together rather than separately but with overlapping frequency ranges.

The lows are more midbass then the stock. Don't hit as warm or low but at volume the sound is tighter. I know the sub will fill this out.

It's kind of cool to see how each component fills in the range. I usually install the whole system in one pass so this is interesting this way. I'm impatient and my ever increasing social obligations are to the point where I told my social coordinator I need to get my speakers hooked up before we go the the Warriors game this Saturday. She smirked and didn't say anything...Maintenance approved!

Yea, my clips were a little brittle but only the bigger white door panel clips. I broke one on each door. I will pick up about a dozen since I will have to go back in come spring or summer.

I have mine set dead center. Of course, your head position will be a little off-center from where the mics were placed for setting up the dsp. It may also be the recording of the music your listening too. Also, make sure you pop your ears lol, I had an eardrum ruptured when I was younger and have to pop my ears occasionally, and usually find out my volume is way louder than what I thought.

Hope you find the loose connection if that's the case @20tacoma17 ! Gotta give you credit for installing in that temperature :benchpress:
And how the heck did you pull those lil white clips off the pillars door side with gloves?

I didn't wear gloves. That's why I had to keep going inside to warm fingers up...I work in this weather all the time but hands and feet get cold sometimes...lol

It was only in the high 50's so I decided to mat most of the doors. I did about 30-40-% of the outer door skin ( 1 sheet of Raam mat) with a piece of Ensolite behind the speaker. I was short on time so I figured I could get to the full inner matting when it gets warmer/less rainy.

Got my install done today. Lots of cussing at the clips and snaps. I fully matted the rear doors and back of cab with Raam mat and Ensolite. Doors sound a lot more solid.

Only had a couple hiccoughs. The plug connectors to the amp are both 20pins. The instructions and video show the amp connections on the driver door side and say to install the white plug to the rear.

The current kits have the amp mounted so the plug connections towards the center console and also state to place the white connector to the rear of the vehicle. Confused I called OEM and they cleared things up. The connectors are keyed. I should have tried them first and sure enough the white connector goes to the rear. The recent kits have the amp mounted inverted ( flipped top for bottom) compared to the videos as well as spun horizontally 180Deg. They'll need to clear up the instructions a bit.

Also on the Sub I incorrectly assumed it had an internal amp. So when I found the two connectors identical and interchangeable I called them again and OEM set me straight...on a Saturday to boot. The Sub connectors are signal wires and are interchangeable so doesn't matter which goes where.

I'll be doing the inner front door skins like the rears at some point in the future when the cuts on my fingers heal.

Sound is great. Better than I expected from the 8. More than enough bass to be pleased for sure most of the time but having the 10" in my previous system spoiled me a bit. I still feel if OEM made a kit to upgrade to a 10 I'd be interested.

This kit is as good as the reviews. If anyone in the Bay Area is on the fence PM me and you can have a listen.

For anyone who installed the OEM kit, did you by chance add another amp and a 10" sub on the passenger side? Is it possible? Would it require an aftermarket head unit?

I did! You don't need an aftermarket hu! Just tap into the wires from the dsp that feeds the 8" for your signal . +red/-black and +yellow/-blue . Remote is blu/wht if I can recall just test it. Or you can buy the c3 from them and the rca plugs will come with the harness. I haven't tried it with the 8" and 10" together as I wanted more control over my bass , but may try it someday as my friend has it at his shop. Oem audio + did a great job tuning this masterpiece and I love it! It's not easy to put together a system by piece not to mention tuning it as well as they did! If your on the fence get the c3 or the 450Q you won't regret it .

Any idea what brand of connectors OEM uses for the sub connection? I didn't see any mfg markings on them.
