I need to get a winch, I have been stuck enough times goofing off in the snow this winter, maybe you guys can give me some suggestions.

I think I want a pretty fast spindle speed, as this winch may also be used for dragging logs up and down hills to cut firewood. What is the benefit of a synthetic rope? My guess is that if I am going to be dragging logs, I probably actually want a more durable wire rope. Are wireless controllers any good?

Synthetic rope weighs less, has higher tensile strength (if its a good one), and is less likely to cut you in half in the event of an accident. Not great to drag over shit all the time but you shouldn't do that with steel either.

Wireless controllers are cool until they stop working so always have a backup plan if you're using one.

Just got a warn 9.5xps super stoked on it, a bit pricey but way worth it, and the synthetic rope is legit. My friend runs a wire rope and watched it snap, kinda gnarly if you dont know what saftey precautions to use...plus synthetic can be respliced if it does snap to get you out of trouble

If I were you, I would try to test everything before you get it completely installed. I have the same winch and the wireless remote didn't work. Smittybilt was great about getting everything replaced but now I need to completely remove the bumper to replace a switch (I need to wire up some new led fogs so I needed to remove the bumper anyways).

Installed a Warn VR10000s in a Pelfreybilt 3rd gen bumper. IMG_4839.jpg IMG_4833.jpg Used a L bracket to mount the solenoid by drilling one extra hole in the bracket and a couple holes in the bumper. Also put some 3M tape and a strip of a mtn bike tube between solenoid and the bumper to give it some cushion/prevent any possible rattle. Fit perfectly under the Baja Designs S8 light bar.

We will be, just a bit busy right now so once things settle down later this spring we should have it up for order. This one is 12-15 specific, need to get a 05-11 in the shop and we'll have the gen2/3's covered then.

Let me know if you want to borrow my truck when the time comes to mock it up.

Edit: Unless I'm missing the mount points for it :notsure:

Thanks Matt. You've got all the mount points, just need a stock bumper cover to chop the center out of. Wouldnt happen to still have yours would ya? Might be able to come by one if not
