That's crazy talk. I don't need storeage space for a flashlight, camera, paperback book, spare change for a pay phone, note pad, road atlas, alarm clock, compass, compact disks, newspaper, calendar, or calculator. I carry an iPhone instead.

What do you mean storage room. That's what your 6 foot bed is for!

^^^ Wish they made a bed that long (2nd to last photo)! Toyota had a 7ft bed option in the early 1980's, if my memory serves me correctly. That would be so handy.

I have a reg cab - 1st gen - and I agree with what you said. That's why I transformed it into an off road machine.

Haha, good point. But what about back packs, and other bulky items?

Ahhhh....not really...unless you have a nice and secure bed cover. Otherwise, you shit will be exposed to the elements. Trust me, nothing more frustrating than putting your back packs and personal items on the bed, and go through a sudden/unexpected rain. It sucks.

Also, without a bed cover that you can properly lock, then there's the issue of having stuff stolen. For instance, Go on a long trip, have camping gear and shit on the bed but not a secure cover. Let's say you have to stay in hotel over night, or stop somewhere to do some shopping. There goes the next issue: will you leave all your stuff exposed on the bed, being potentially stolen?

With a double cab or even extra cab you can squeeze your stuff in the ca, and if you have tinted windows in the rear windows it conceals your stuff better.

I mean, I have owned my truck for years and love it as an off road machine. But reg cabs are not practical for everyday use as a primary vehicle.

Ok, Maybe it wouldn't be a good daily driver for you but for me and many other a reg cab can suit us just fine.

Yes they should ,but no because it does not make financial sense for Toyota. For a variety of reasons.

I Didnt say that, I perhaps implied that I did have one but didn't intend to come across that way.

    evidence highlighted above :D

It gave the impression you were defending reg cabs cause you had one and spoke from experience

Alright so here's my next question. If Toyota decided to make 300 regular cab 3rd gens (100 sport, 100 off roads, 100 pros) I'll set the prices at 36k (sport) 39k (off-road) 41k pro. They all come v6 manual. Would you guys buy them?

I bet they'd sell but to hot that price point, they'd have to run 10's of 1000's.

Also, it was killed due to demand, profit margin and mostly fuel economy.

I can speak from experience. I'm 6 feet tall and have the seat almost all the way back. There's still plenty of room in the cab for bulky items:
    bs.jpg bs2.jpg bs3.jpg

The lockable dry storage issue is easily solved by a $100.00 craigslist camper shell:
    IMG_0902.jpg

What's truly impractical is the many hundreds of thousands of people single-occupant commuting in double cab trucks that cost as much as recreational property, when a small hatchback or motorcycle could do the same task.
