Good afternoon folks. My first of many Tacoma questions. I have an 08 DCLB base model, I picked up some 2012 sport coils. They base coils measure .640 wire size. The sport are .685. Can I expect any amount of front lift from swapping them in?

Planning on 5100's and trying to get a little lift and offset the weight of a bumper and winch.

I thought they were the same coil. No? I thought the OR progressive rate spring was the different one and all other 6 lugs had the same coil. If you have a winch and bumper, you need 886 coils - not the wimpy stock coils. My stock coils on my base model set at 1.75 used to bind on big compressions. It sounded like slamming the frame on a rock (done that too). If you're going to do this, do it right, or you'll do it (at least) twice.

I will only set the bilstiens at .85.

I am not ordering coils. I guess I will have to build a light bumper. I have put a lot of winches on various trucks and big heavy spring rates don't work for what I am doing.

They will not change height. Sports have no lift over any other trim model, they are just stiffer coils.

Hmm then they should work perfect! A stiffer coil preloaded a bit will hold up more weight and give it a bit of lift.

I don't quite understand this sites aversion to the TRD off road progressive coils. I have used progressive springs on dozens of rigs with excellent results but this whole IFS thing is new to me.
