Every time I drive my parents Subaru for whatever reason, I'm reminded about how nice the fan pattern of the sprayers is, especially when compared to the stupid dual jetstreams that don't seem to do any damn good on our trucks.

The last several weeks have been filled with various major maintenance, trying to thwart the steering vibe at speed. I replaced front wheel bearings, upgraded the clamshell needle bearing to the ecgs bushing, then discovered the rear wheel bearings had started to develop play... A lot of it. So add that to the expense list.

This weekend I had to house and dog sit for my parents, and since the trails were muddy Friday, I decided to tackle a bunch of little projects that I haven't been doing as a result of maintenance taking up my time.

    On the list was:
    - install vents in bike gear box
    - plumb in water tank with frontrunner spigot and 12v pump
    - install bed LED lighting
    - mount CO2 tank in bed
    - deck plate mod
    - install LED lights in the tent (turns out my plan was thwarted by available technology)
    - contemplate where the hell to put my two Rotopax 4 gallon cans
    - mount rhino rack dome awning off the back

Most of these got done. The RTT lights almost did. I had planned on powering them from a lipstick USB charger, but I discovered that the 5V output is insufficient to power the lights . So I had to scrap that plan until I come up with an alternative power source.

As far as the Rotopax situation goes, I can easily mount one on the passenger side of the bed rack, and make it hinge out so it doesn't permanently block side access to cargo. But I don't necessarily want to stack both on that side, it might be too thick. Option B is to attach the two to my swing out, blocking the tailgate. Anyway, I basically want to be able to carry 8-10 gallons of firewall before making the trip to overland expo, without putting them on the roof.

Got a new bag for the tent (right before finding the rear wheel bearings had an issue). Nemo symphony duo, perfect fit in the RTT, and super comfortable.

    Looks good, Alex!

I can't wait until I get my spare mounted above the bed and behind the cab like yours. I've never been a big fan of swing out carriers, especially on these trucks.

My plan for gas is to eventually have three 3 gal rotopax onboard for longer trips. I figure another 50% of my fuel capacity is probably good enough for my situation. I'm gonna mount them on the back of a gear rack that runs across the bed like the spare carrier will eventually. That'll leave the entire bed volume open for miscellaneous gear.

Nice! I originally wanted to stack the two in front of the spare (toward the tailgate), but I didn't build the bed rack tall enough, so if I did that they'd block the boxes

I'm pumped to see what you come up with for your setup. Any idea when you'll get that all built?

You'll probably go through 4 more bed and bumper configurations before Jason gets his done.

Well, given my reputation, never...

But I'm hoping to find a fabricator to collaborate with soon. The plan is to basically have the bed rack with the center bar set back a little so that I can pull the 315 out the side. Then I'll have storage for a few 8 gal action packers, my Hi-Lift, tools, recovery gear, and the rotopax. Maybe some traction boards and other EAF bling later.

The big thing is having the bed volume available. That's gonna be nice.

I might even try to make a soft top shell for it, since everything will be internal to the bed rack...

I want to print more #EAF decals, but sell them in sets of 30, each one would have +1 through +30 on 'em

I got zero bites and decided to keep it, I was frustrated with a few things when I posted it up. Then I threw more wheel bearings and crap at it.

your truck is so sick man I really like the way it looks, and all the iterations it has gone through haha. did you build this front bumper? Looks like an ARB with those hoops, it looks really good. I looked back to try and find when you added the hoops? looks like you had a small middle one, and then you changed it? would love to know more about it.
