FWIW, I was paying attention to the blower on high and headlight illumination this morning in the predawn darkness. My commute has several hills and turns, so my RPMs are all over the place. I couldn't discern any difference in light output or blower motor sound.

If you're noticing distinct changes, then something is amiss with your charging system I believe.

Thanks for the info, I'm going to keep an eye on it and see what happens. Its pretty intermittent so if it persists then I plan on pushing harder with the dealer. We've got quite a bit of temp variation this winter here in MN but regardless, thanks for the info!

I want to say there was a battery thread somewhere that they put a different battery tray and tried a 31 and there was not enough space but a 27f did.

I know there was enough space in the 2nd gen, but that damn oil filler neck on ours looks to be a problem

so I can confirm that a 31m does fit. Got bored yesterday and threw the pelfreybilt cage and my 31m from the 2nd gen I traded into the truck and it fits. There is probably 3/4" maybe a little more of space to the fill neck. I am probably going to extend some of the battery cables to clean everything up, but it's in there and wired up for now.

Here are 2 shots from the 31m. You can see there is plenty of clearance to the full neck. You do not have to replace the battery terminal to do this, I did because I needed more posts and I didn't like things being stock. I will eventually replace the alternator wire and run it the the secondary post along with the winch I am putting on soon. Glad it fit, otherwise I would have run it as a secondary battery in the truck bed similar to expedition overland's build. Now I'll run 3 31m hahaha

get the @Pelfreybilt battery cage. The stock tie down won't work and the battery tray is too small so might as well upgrade to something nice that is going to be secure.

My 2019 manual transmission with the tow package came with the Johnson Controls 24F. Perhaps Toyota uses the lighter battery to keep weight down (improved gas mileage/thin sheet metal around radiator mount)? Not justifying it, just offering up a possible explanation.0B6636DC-E857-4DF1-AC40-D3DA7B78C91E.jpg

Several days ago, went out to start my 2018 TRD OR-totally dead. My Tundra is a CPO with the extended warranty, called the dealership to check if there was any warranty left.

They went to bat for me! Had to put it on a charger/tester for 2 hours but I guess the battery was marginal enough that I ended up with a fancy new battery at no charge.

    Truestart with 84 months warranty.
